I`ve scraped the idea of the tutorial, it was crap and lame! So
instead I`ll just include a few sources each month (I make the deadline)
and also continue to attempt to answer any problems. This month I`m
kicking off with my GFA infinite sprites screen and my mini-dister:
Extracting files
================
Simply copy DISTER.TOS into a DISTER folder on a blank disk, copy
INF_SPRT.TOS into an INT_SPRT folder on a black disk, then run the two
programs. The first should extract about eight files and the second
about three files.
Infinite Sprites
================
Firstly, acknowledgements must go to Dream State (Trantor), also of
Virtual Infinity, for explaining the basic theory. My interpretation of
the screen literally is *infinite* - well, until the radius overflows!
All grafix and musyc data is contained within the data file. I coded
this screen on a b & w TV using a color pallette, so I hope it looks OK
in color!
Mini-Dister
===========
The grafix in these three screens is of me (Professor)! The photo
was taken by 68K, of Virtual Infinity, at the Wembly 16 bit show this
year (1993). Acknowledgements also go to 68K for scanning.
Sorry they all use the same musyc, but it`s so all data can come from
a single data file. The screens aren`t quite as fast as I would have
liked, but still very impressive considering no assembly knowledge was
required.
Please be patient with DISTER3, with over 352 thousand pixels to pre-
calculate you can`t really blame GFA for taking it`s time, I just hope
it can run on a 1/2 meg! I don`t actually think DISTER3 can be achieved
in real-time, and challenge 68k coders to prove me wrong!
WARNING
=======
The VBI musyc replay routine is written by Dream State and I`ve not
fully documented it in my sources. If you wish to use it, please DO NOT
attempt to hack it out my data files. Please get in touch with either
me or Dream State for full information.
Next Month ...
==============
Hopefully coming up will be a GFA, Degas '.PC?' image decompressor.
But I wouldn`t hold your breath, I`ve made promises in the past and not
kept to them!
Contacting Me
=============
If you have a GFA problem, or want further information about my
sources, I (Professor) can be contacted: by post, by mail, via Ictari
and via STAMP on Monochrome.
