DegasFix (c)1993 David Ashcroft
Documentation written at 16:50:10 on
26 May 1993 - The day after my last exam !
Amended 2 June 1993
Do you pay separately for your conditioner and fabric softener? If so
you should buy the new all-in-one DegasFix ! No, I can't use that, I
would probably get sued from a rather large company!
DegasFix allows you to convert Degas files (PI1) to Degas Elite files
(also PI1). You may be wondering why you would want to do this!
Well, you see the problem is that when Degas was first released it
laid down a file format, but when Degas Elite (Degas 2 to all intents
and purposes) came along - they changed them. Degas Elite was now the
standard but a great many art packages (Public Domain and Commercial)
etc would still save the first degas file format! This means that
new art packages like Deluxe Paint are unable to load them properly.
Basically, DegasFix converts old Degas pictures into the newer Degas
Elite file format. Allowing you to load in more pictures into great
new art packages.
To use Degasfix, simply load the program and when prompted, flick the
write protect tab so that it covers the hole and then insert any disk
which contains the offending Degas files. When the file selector
appears for the first time, please select the appropriate degas file to
fix and then Degasfix will automatically load the file - make the
necessary changes and then save the file back to disk under a
specified filename (which you choose when the file selector appears
again.
DegasFix is SHAREWARE, I have spent a great deal of time researching
the intricacies of the Degas file formats. Please support myself and
SHAREWARE authors in general by sending a registration fee of a mere
£1.50. For this you will be offered new SHAREWARE software written by
myself before it is released into the public domain distribution
channels. However, don't worry - Seeing as you are readers of the
ICTARI user magazine, you don't have to pay a penny - just send a
letter and you can register for nowt.
