  3.   To enter, press the Printer button

  5. Item: Dump
  6. Type: Action Bar
  7. Desc: This option dumps the current
  8. work screen to the Printer (if
  9. connected of course). An Alert Box will
  10. check if you really want to dump first.
  11. The output if effected by the
  12. attributes on the Printer Specbox.
  13. Opts: All Printer Options (PRS)

  15. Item: HBLs
  16. Type: Toggle Bar
  17. Desc: If HBLs is switched on when you
  18. Dump a screen to the Printer, the HBLs
  19. will be taken into account. Otherwise,
  20. the whole dump will be affected only by
  21. the current palette.

  24. Item: Passes
  25. Type: Icon Selector
  26. Desc: This selects the number of passes
  27. (times that the printer will print each
  28. of the lines of graphics). The greater
  29. the number of passes, the better
  30. quality the dump... and the longer the
  31. dump takes. You may find that if you
  32. have an old, fading ribbon, increasing
  33. the number of passes may make it quite
  34. respectable.

  38. Type: Toggle Bars
  39. Desc: This option block consists of a
  40. number of items which govern the output
  41. produced when you Dump a picture to the
  42. Printer. Firstly, Mono/LC-10 Colr
  43. selects whether the dump produced is to
  44. be a Mono dump (Black/White) or full
  45. colour. The Colour dump (probably?)
  46. only works on a Star LC-10 Colour
  47. Printer though (who said it's
  48. impossible to make a 4 colour printer
  49. print 4096 colours!!).
  50.     The second option allows you to
  51. select which port your printer is
  52. connected to. Check this before you
  53. print out. Centronics is the normal
  54. Printer port (second from right at the
  55. back of the ST) and the RS-232 is the
  56. Modem port (right-hand port).
  57.     Thirdly, choose the contrast of the
  58. shading produced by the Dump. Smooth
  59. means that there will be 8 different
  60. shading levels for each colour, whereas
  61. Sharp produces 4 shades.
  62.     Lastly, the numbers represent the
  63. number of dots per line your printer is
  64. capable of. Most Epson-compatible
  65. printers, including Star, Panasonic,
  66. Citizen etc, use 960 D/Line whilst
  67. Atari printers use 1280 D/Line.

  70. Item: Send CHR$
  71. Type: Infobar/Action Bar
  72. Desc: This option allows you to send
  73. single character codes to your printer.
  74. You could use it to set up a function
  75. or simply to print some text (although
  76. it's not really meant for that). To do
  77. this, you must change the value in the
  78. Infobar to the appropriate CHR$ value
  79. (See Character Set table). Now click on
  80. the title bar of the Infobar. You
  81. should hear a ping. If you don't, the
  82. printer probably isn't connected
  83. properly, or is not On-Line.
