(SN)OOZE
Well, finally someone has released a game that doesn't need to be cracked,
can't have a trainer mode, takes a severe dislike to being packed, loads
only when it feels like it and is more or less unplayable on a TV because
of the ridiculously thin font used. Annoying, because it seems like a good
game beneath all the amateurish coding. At least it isn't 60 HZ only now...
can you imagine releasing a game that does nothing but flicker on most TVs?
Written in C. I rest my case Steve! Thanks to Ken for the original- I think.
This game is not packed because:
1. The only files read in one go are sample files (unpackable)
2. The otherwise packable files are read bit by bit, all over the place or
are checked for their length before allocating memory to them- if a file
is packed, less memory is allocated, and then the depacked file overruns
the end of it's allocated area (that's bloody C programs for you)
3. This game isn't worth the effort, if you ask me
No doubt some smartarse will pack the damn thing, and if they do, congrats
to them, because they must be:
1. Very clever
2. Very boring, because any normal person wouldn't waste their energy
The storyline is in the intro scene, so read that!
As a hint: you start off with the key to the first door you'll find. If you
didn't know that, you'd never get anywhere! Also, only N,S,E and W are
accepted for compass directions- no NW, SE etc. Swearing constantly does NOT
make anything nasty happen, so feel free!
Well, off you go all you persistent adventurers with perfect monitors and
unending supplies of Optrex...
RECOIL
At least you can kill things in this game... packed, trained and single parted
by The Alien. You can't fool me Rob Northen... this 'no protection at all'
protection isn't stopping me!! And if you don't think much of this game, you
should see what Amiga owners got on that freebie... a PROBE game!!! Ha ha ha!!!
Funny how the music in Recoil sounds VERY similar to the tune in the Speccy
version of Firefly...
Right, you control a gun turret on a battleship so ginormously HUGE and massive
that it can't actually fit on the screen. I dunno, these programmers...
Now there's this planetoid, see. And on it is some lil ol crystals, see. And du
bad guys want the crystals see? And you have a big gun. Guess what you've got
to do?
The crystals bounce along the ground- pick them up and return them to the central
ground base for extra energy and points. Wipe out all the aliens to finish the
level. Press SPACE to use a Knacka bomb (so called because it knackas your
energy level!!) and zap a screenload of the blighters. Press HELP to pause, and
FIRE to continue.
