- Well kids, here it is. A weapons patch for DooM that among other things
- includes a Hand Grenade, Sonic Rifle, and Justice. Please let me know if you
- find any bugs, and I'll see if I can fix them.

- This patch was meant mainly for deathmatch. Altdeath in particular. All of
- the weapons are geared for deathmatch. For example, the Justice weapon and
- Shotgun will have limitted ammo because they are very leathal.

- I think you will find a number of neat things in this DeHackEd patch that you
- have NEVER seen before! Hope you like it. I even used the DooM palette when
- creating my graphics, so they look very nice.

- * Play Information *

- Base : New level from scratch

- The following things are changed with the Grenade Weapons Patch installed:
-
- Pistol -----> Faster Pistol. Not painfully slow. It's about
- as fast as I can fire one.
-
- Shotgun -----> Faster Shotgun. Not amazingly fast, just a
- little faster. Also has limitted ammo, so that
- it's not a huge advantage during deathmatches)
-
- Rocket Launcher -----> Hand Grenades. Work Very Nice. First you need
- to find the Grenade Trigger. (a little box you
- stick the grenades in to arm them) Then aim and
- throw. Once thrown, they only last about 3-4
- seconds before exploding. The little red light
- on the grenade will 'turn on' about a half second
- before the grenade goes off. enjoy :) You can
- also "pummel" the enemies with them, although it's
- more humerous then effective. I like watching
- them jump and scream as it hits them even though
- it hardly does any damage---I think it just scares
- them :)

- Plasma Gun -----> Sonic Rifle. Uses an internal mechanical cell
- driven engine to send out a powerful sonic wave of
- low pitch sound. This weapon is powerful, but it
- has limitted range. Also, give it some room to
- build up sound. Visible sound waves look cool!

- BFG9000 -----> Justice. This is the ultimate weapon. The
- Justice is a high speed rocket driven by pure
- energy. An enemy just standing CLOSE to the
- rocket path may be injured or possibly killed due
- to the energy drive. Very Cool. A good technique
- for this weapon is to shoot it over the heads of
- other players or enemies. This will literally
- %SHOWER% them with harmful energy >:) Be Warned:
- If you're not careful you can be harmed by your
- own 'blowback' from the weapon. If your going to
- shoot this off a ledge----STAND BACK! Also,
- This weapon uses tons of energy therefore it
- won't be a huge advantage during deathmatch.

- Invulnerability Sphere ----> Respawns!
- Blur Sphere ----> Respawns!
-
- Justice Weapon ----> Blinks rapidly when sitting on ground
- between Invulnerability Sphere, Soul Sphere,
- and Justice weapon. This makes it harder to
- pick up the Justice. Have you ever seen
- this before?

- Blue Health Potions ----> occasionally blink Soul Sphere's, if your
- really lucky, you get 100% health extra
- instead of 1%

- Green Armor ----> flashes to blue armor, so if your luck or
- you already have over 99% armor, you will
- get 200% --- Very Cool.

- Caco's, Imps Fireballs ----> Changed. They look better now.
-
- Puffs ----> Everything bleeds now--even walls. The
- blood doesn't just disappear. It stays on
- the floor for a little bit.

- Troopers ----> Drop shotgun shells.
-
- Sprites ----> About 10 new sprites.

- * Loading and Playing Requirements *
-
- To play with these new features you first need to use Dehackedv1.99e to
- install the patch. Just run dehacked and press 'L' then type 'grenade.deh'
- make sure the .DEH file is in the correct directory: something like
- \doom\patches. IMPORTANT: To install this patch you need the REGISTERED
- DooM v1.6.

- Depending on how you made you DooM v1.6 registered:
-
- If you used the DOOM GOD's 16regvr2 patch, use the GREN.WAD (This wad
- includes the BAL3A0-BAL3E0 sprites which were changed by DOOM GOD's patch)
- To run the grenade patch after loading the dehacked patch type:
-
- DOOM -FILE GREN.WAD
-
- If you registered some other way after loading the dehacked patch type:
-
- DOOM -FILE GREN2.WAD
-

- * Sprite Information *
-
- All the sprites included my .WAD do not load over current sprites, nor do
- they modify any of the current sprite information or any other information
- for that matter. Therefore, if you used the DOOM GOD's registered patch, I
- have included a file GRENPAT.WAD. This file is ONLY 15k and contains all the
- new sprites. I included this file so that you could easily rebuild the
- DOOM.WAD file using DEU. This is NOT required, BUT it takes virtually NO
- extra space, and they will alway be there if you want ever want to use my
- dehacked patch, you won't have to -file anything.

- You MAY distribute this WAD, provided you include this file, with
- no modifications. You may distribute this file in any electronic
- format (BBS, Diskette, CD, etc) as long as you include this file
- intact.

- * For those of you who haven't seen the patch yet.... *
-
- I suggest ALTDEATH on LEDGESI.WAD. You can stand up high on the top of the
- tall elevator, and throw a grenade all the way across to the other side and
- land it on another ledge. Very Cool. Another neat thing is to go get the
- Blur Sphere, sneak up behind your buddy, and throw a grenade right next to
- him while he is hiding. Then watch his guts crumble >:) Then you can do
- it again (Because the Blur Sphere RESPAWNS!!)

- The grenade looks especially neat when you throw it up at an enemy and it
- lands at his feet and blows up.

- The Justice is unstoppable! The Sonic Rifle is Very Cool! Hope you can
- play it soon!

- * Side Effects *

- The following are side effects that I would be impressed if somebody could
- tackle:
-
- 1. The ammo clips and shells do not respawn because I had to use those
- item #'s to make the invulnerability and soul spheres to respawn. Don't
- worry, the shotgun shell boxes and ammo boxes respawn, it's just the set
- of 4 shells and ammo clip that don't.
- 2. There is no sound when the grenades explode. This would require a hack
- into the main program.
- 3. The grenades just throw straight out unless your throwing up at a monster.
- It would be neet if a hack to the program could make the grenades always
- launch upward a bit.
