  4. TO INSTALL:
  5.  
  6. 1. Insert the "Tales From LANtropolis" CD into your CD-ROM drive.
  7.  
  8. 2. If you are using Windows* 3.1, select Run from the File menu within 
  9. the Program Manager.  If you are using Windows 95, select Run from the 
  10. Start button menu.
  11.  
  12. 3. Type "D:\setup.exe" and press Return.  If the letter assigned to your 
  13. CD-ROM drive is not D, substitute the appropriate letter.

  15. 4. Follow the instructions in the Installer program.
  16.  
  17. 5. If you choose to install Video For Windows 1.1e, be sure to restart 
  18. Windows before running "Tales From LANtropolis."

  20. PERFORMANCE QUESTIONS:

  23. Why does my video playback seem "jerky" or "slow"?
  24. Answer:
  25. If you're getting a slow or jerky response while your video plays, you 
  26. may have some applications running in the background of your Windows 
  27. environment.  For best results, close any open applications before 
  28. playing the TFL CD-ROM.

  30. Question:
  31. Why does my screen saver come on during my video playback?
  32. Answer:
  33. Screen savers will over-ride the screen display whenever they sense 
  34. inactivity on the mouse or keyboard for a preset duration of time.  
  35. If you are having this kind of problem, try raising the amount of time 
  36. your screensaver waits for inactivity above 20 minutes or turn it off 
  37. while you're enjoying TFL.

  39. Question:
  40. Sometimes my video playback skips scenes, what can I do?
  41. Answer:
  42. See the answer to question number 1.  The less processing time that is 
  43. allowed for use by the TFL player, the more the chances that it will 
  44. miss a scene during the playback.

  46. Question:
  47. Sometimes I can't get my clicks on the player controls to take 
  48. effect, what can I do?
  49. Answer:
  50. Windows is built to give video playback a priority over processing time
  51. when a video is being played.  Therefore, on some slower systems 
  52. you'll need to wait for the keypress or mouse click to be recognized by
  53. the player.

  55. Question:
  56. Why does my my video color seem bland?
  57. Answer:
  58. The video was optimized to run on a system display using 256 colors.  If
  59. your display is set for less than that, the video will look bland.
