  4. 1. What is Live?
  5.  
  6. Live is a Global Controller machine. It's similar to Jeskola C1 but different in
  7. many ways. I designed it as a tool for live performances. The main function is to
  8. define programs which represent the parameter settings for every used machine.
  9. Theese programms can be activated by midi note. But thats not everything...

  12. 2. Installation
  13.  
  14. Live is a generator. Copy Live.dll and Live.txt into the Generators folder. It
  15. requires the latest Buzz.exe. Get it at www.jeskola.com/beta. In the index.txt
  16. it should be found under the section 'Global Controler'.

  19. 3. Setup in Buzz
  20.  
  21. Insert Live like any other machine. Connect the output direct to the Master.
  22. A double-click on the machine opens the GUI.

  25. 4. The GUI elements

  27. The windows is separated in different groups:
  28.  
  29.  Machines    contains all used machines
  30.  Parameters    contains all parameters of the selected (white) machine
  31.  Sliders    visualized parameter values for data entry
  32.  Program    a list of the 128 possible programs
  33.  Song        contains the program-no. for each of the 256 song steps
  34.  
  35.  A left click selects an item. Scroll a list with a right button and 
  36.  moving up/down. The sliders are set with left click. With a right click the can
  37.  be deactivated (not used, not sended).

  39. At the bottom of the window are several buttons:

  41.  Setup        opens the setup-window for midi-channel and keyboard-transpose
  42.  
  43.  X (Param.)    cuts all used values of the selected machine into the clipboard
  44.  C (Param.)    copies all used values of the selected machine into the clipboard
  45.  V (Param.)    inserts the clipboard values and sends them
  46.  
  47.  1        sets all steps as used (only in sequencer mode)
  48.  2        sets every second as used (only in sequencer mode)
  49.  4        sets every fourth step as used (only in sequencer mode)
  50.  8        sets every eighth step as used (only in sequencer mode)
  51.  RS        sets steps used by random (only in sequencer mode)
  52.  RV        sets values for the used steps by random (only in sequencer mode)

  54.  Run        activates playing the defined sequences

  56.  X (Prog.)    cuts the selected program into clipboard
  57.  C (Prog.)    copies the selected program into clipboard
  58.  V (Prog.)    inserts the clipboard into the selected program and sends it

  60.  ...        opens window to rename the current program

  62.  Set        sets the selected program to the current song step
  63.  -        decrements the counter (to repeat a song step)
  64.  +        increments the counter (to repeat a song step)
  65.  Ins        inserts program 0 at current song step
  66.  Del        deletes the current song step

  70. 5. How to work with Live?
  71.  
  72. Make your setup by inserting and connecting the machines/templates you like. You
  73. need no patterns (F2) or sequence (F4). Insert Live and connect it direct to the 
  74. master. Open the GUI. Try selecting the machines and play around with the sliders.
  75. Changes are directly (every tick) send to Buzz. To save a program select another 
  76. one. Programs are sended by selecting them. You can recall any program with your
  77. midi keyboard. To enter the step-sequencer for a parameter click it twice 
  78. (it turns red). Now you can draw the sequence.
