The demonstration version is distributed to the public, and may be freely copied and be used without any expiration date, as long as the archive is distributed in it's original format, and no fee is charged for the Liquid Tracker program. The commercial (= registered) version may not be distributed. ■ Warranty ────────── None! This program provided "AS-IS". The author disclaims all warranties including but not limited to implied warranty of fitness to a particular purpose. The author cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by using this program. The author cannot be held responsible for any loss of profit, time or artificial ideas. All this applies to all versions of Liquid Tracker. The nature of this application deals with low-level hardware mechanism such as direct memory modification to achieve best performance. Updating the program can sometimes result bugs in some critical events, which tend to be discovered only later. However extensive beta-testing is done constantly on the program, so fortunately CRITICAL ERRORS ARE HIGHLY UNLIKELY, and along with saving the work often while working on it, no significant loss is likely to be happen, if at all. A limited warranty might be included in later versions. ■ Registration Policy and updates ───────────────────────────────── The Liquid Tracker registration policy is a very unique and flexible one which gives the opportunity NOT to pay for some features (referred as "extra-features" throughout this document), and thus possibly make the product cheaper. In the demonstration version, all the extra-features are ENABLED (except the save option), so they can be tested. In the registered version however, there is a basic charge for the main program, on which extra-features (listed in the registration form below) can be added. Needless to say, that the registered version CAN save modules (LIQ/S3M modules). From time to time, the extra-features' price might raise or decrease, according to aim from my side to encourage the demand for certain extra-features. Also, from time to time, more extra-features like MIDI, MOUSE, EQUALIZER (not Spectrum Analyzer!) FM-OPL4 might be added. NOTE THAT, the extra-features' prices usually reflect the work done on the feature. * Currently the only available extra-feature is "Stereo Samples". License agreement ───────────────── The registration form appears in this document gives the user a minor commercial license which means the program and it's result files ("modules") may be freely used for any purpose, including home usage, demos, games, multimedia applications or any other freeware, shareware or commercial product, as long as all the products it serves bringing in a profit which is smaller than $1000 (gross) per month. If the sum is bigger than $1000, you should negotiate a "major commercial license" or "multi-site commercial license" with the author (unless the money came from winning a competition prize) The registered version may be used only by the person who paid the author for it, and only on the computer (the physical hardware) it was registered to. The registered version may not be given to anyone else. Updates for registered users ──────────────────────────── Each registered user is entitled to all Liquid Tracker's future updates with the same minor version but not include specific added features which are listed in the "extra-features" list. This practically means free updates for bugfixes and minor enhancements (for example, more sound cards support, Tag/Delete in filemanager, test samples from filemanager, graphical scopes and these sort of things, as the author decides) Updating extra-features ─────────────────────── Read below at "Purchasing newly added extra-features" section. ■ Technical Registration Details ───────────────────────────────── The registered version is designed to work only on the machine it is registered to i.e. it will not run on another machine with different motherboard etc, with the exceptions of storage media (i.e. floppy & hard discs) and sound boards, which can be freely upgraded regardless for none-functionality of the Liquid Tracker. Each registered user is entitled to one additional hardware upgrade, which means that if you upgrade your motherboard, another LIQ.INF file may be sent to me (more about LIQ.INF later), and I will update you with a version that will work on your new hardware. If you upgrade your hardware more than once, you should re-register. I'm sorry, but this is the only reasonable and fair way to protect my work. It is strongly advisable to wait with your registration if are about to upgrade your machine, but this is only your choice. ■ How To Register ───────────────── 1) First, produce a LIQ.INF file using the tracker (Misc menu->Make INF file), and supply your FULL REAL NAME when the program prompts you to. ! The LIQ.INF must be produced on the computer which the registered version is desired to operate from. 2) Fill all the details, using your favorite text editor (like Dos' EDIT program) in the REGISTRATION FORM below, and print it. (Don't forget to sign at the bottom after printing) 3) PKZip/ARJ/LHA the files "LIQ.INF" to a floppy diskette (any kind of floppy is accepted), copy it to few copies on the diskette (LIQREG.ZIP, LIQREG1.ZIP, LIQREG2.ZIP and so on...) in case of the diskette having bad sectors when getting to me. Also, use VERIFY switch when copying (copy liqreg.zip a: /v) 4) Send the DISKETTE and the REGISTRATION FORM along with your PAYMENT, to: Nir Oren P.O. Remember when sending cash by mail, that it should not be seen in light through the envelope. If you are afraid of sending cash in mail, you can deposit the money in my account directly (CASH ONLY!). If there is a branch of Bank Leumi near you (also outside Israel), it is the preferable way, because you will not have to pay the bank fee. You might not have to pay any bank fee with other banks too (there is a different policy for each bank). SEND ME A COPY OF THE RECIPT WITH YOUR PACKAGE. Once I receive your package, I will send you back the commercial version registered to you (I will use standard mail only if you have checked-in the field "Shipping&Handling" below; you can alternatively use BBS support, which can be faster and cheaper) LIQUID's BBS UPDATES SUPPORT You can also take advantage on the LIQUID's BBS UPDATES SUPPORT, if you want. After sending the REGISTRATION FORM using standard mail (you CAN'T send the Registration Form using electronic media), you can login to one of the SUPPORT BBS's indicated in LIQ.DOC, as a new user, and write a note to the sysop saying you are soon LIQUID TRACKER registered user, and you wish to get updates (and your first registered version, of course) on a regular basis; you can download your updates in one of two ways; downloading the program manually, using the BBS interface, or FREQing it using mailer (magic word LIQUIDREG). Once the REGISTRATION FORM along with LIQ.INF and the payment will get to me, new versions of LIQUID will be placed in your user account. You can know when a new version exists either by the regular distribution stream, or by calling from time to time. Notes - The author reserve the right to make any change in this arrangement without prior notice. - The author reserve the right NOT to register a specific person, or a group of persons, for any reason (although highly unlikely).
