  96. TextPad aims to provide the power and functionality to satisfy your most
  97. demanding text editing requirements.  It is Windows hosted, and comes in
  98. 16 and 32-bit editions.  Huge files can be edited by either - just choose
  99. the edition that works best with your PC.  The 32-bit edition is only
  100. limited by virtual memory, and it will work with Win32s and Windows 95.
  101.  
  102. TextPad has been implemented according to the Windows 95 user interface
  103. guidelines, so great attention has been paid to making it easy for both
  104. beginners and experienced users.  In-context help is available for all
  105. commands, and in-context menus pop-up with the right mouse button.  The
  106. multi-document interface allows multiple files to be edited
  107. simultaneously, with up to 2 views on each file.  You can drag and drop
  108. text between files.

  110. In addition to the usual cut and paste capabilities, you can correct the
  111. most common typing errors with commands to change case, and transpose
  112. words,characters and lines.  Other commands let you indent blocks of
  113. text, split or join lines, and insert whole files.  Any change can be
  114. undone or redone, right back to the first one made.  Visible bookmarks
  115. can be put on lines.
  116.  
  117. It also has a customizable tools menu, and integral file compare and
  118. search commands, with hypertext jumps from the matched text to the
  119. corresponding line in the source file (ideal for integrating compilers).
  120.

  134.     WARNING:  If your disk or ZIP file contains BOTH editions of
  135.     TextPad, SETUP.EXE is a 32-bit program.  So if you want to install
  136.     the 16-bit edition of TextPad, use SETUP16.EXE instead.  This does
  137.     not apply if you only have the 16-bit edition.

  139.     Installing From a ZIP File:
  140.         1) Unzip into a new temporary directory, with PKUNZIP 2.04g.
  141.         2) Run SETUP.EXE using File Manager or Program Manager.
  142.         3) Follow the on-screen instructions, but install into a
  143.            different directory from that in step 1 above.
  144.         4) Delete the files unzipped in step 1 above.

  146.     Installing From Floppy Disk:
  147.         1) From Program Manager, choose the Run command from the
  148.            File menu.
  149.         2) Type "A:\SETUP" to run the TextPad setup program.
  150.         3) Follow the on-screen instructions.
  151.  
  152.     You can install both editions into the same directory.
  153.     There is no need to modify your search path.

  161.     The following features are only available to registered users:

  163.     1) OLE2 drag and drop editing.  Local drag and drop editing is always
  164.        available, but scrolling has not been implemented.  This means
  165.        that you can drop text in the visible view, but you cannot
  166.        scroll the view whilst dragging.
  167.     2) Searching of subdirectories with the Find in Files command.

  171.     If you make use of TextPad you must register it.  Registered users
  172.     will receive a copy of the latest releases of both the 16 and 32-bit
  173.     editions, along with the Win32s and OLE2 files necessary for running
  174.     in 32-bit mode on Windows 3.1.
