-
-
- 1. Saving the Configuration File
- --------------------------------
- It is recommended that you save the configuration file in the same
- directory where PQLAUNCH.EXE is located. If, however, you decide to
- save the configuration file elsewhere, you will need to manually
- edit the .INI file so that it includes the full path to each
- respective program. You will also need to manually edit the resulting
- .BAT file so that it includes the full path to each program and
- includes the full path to the launcher program (PQLAUNCH.EXE) and the
- configuration file (*.INI).
-
-
- 2. File Paths to Products in the Interface
- ------------------------------------------
- In Recovery Central, when you specify the products you want to add
- to the interface, you must enter the full path and name of the batch
- file (.BAT) that will launch the product when a user clicks the
- respective button, or you must enter the full path and name of the
- DOS-based program (.EXE) and any command line switches you want to use
- when the program is started.
-
- If the full path to the product contains any spaces between words or
- contains more than eight characters in a folder name or filename
- (for example, D:\Program Files\SecondChance\Crestore.exe), you must
- enclose the full path in quotes (for example, ôD:\Program Files\
- SecondChance\Crestore.exeö). If the full path is not enclosed in
- quotes, the product will not launch when a user clicks the product
- button on the recovery CD interface.
-
-
- 3. File Paths to .PCX Images
- ------------------------------
- If the full path to a .PCX image used on the recovery CD interface
- contains any spaces between words or contains more than eight
- characters in a folder name or filename (for example, D:\Art Images\
- corporatelogo.pcx), the image will not be displayed on the recovery
- CD interface. To ensure that the image appears on the interface, you
- must use the DOS 8.3 file naming convention and avoid spaces between
- words.
-
-
- 4. Recovery CD File List
- ------------------------
- Listed below are the files you will add to the actual recovery CD media
- when it is created.
-
- - PQLAUNCH.EXE
- - PQLOGO.PCX
- - .PCX logo for OEM company
- - MOUSE.COM
- - *.BAT that is automatically created by Recovery Central
- - *.INI that you create and save in Recovery Central
-
- Important: When an end user launches their recovery CD, be aware that
- HIMEM.SYS must first be loaded from a CONFIG.SYS file. Depending on
- your specific needs, the CONFIG.SYS file can be run from a bootable
- floppy or from the recovery CD itself.
-
-
- 5. Miscellaneous Issues
- -----------------------
- -PowerQuest Recovery Central currently does not support double-byte
- characters.
-
- -If you are running Windows 95 or Windows NT, the horizontal and
- vertical scrolls bars in Recovery Central may remain visible, even
- if the Recovery Central window is maximized. In such cases, you may
- need to change your font setting in Windows Display Properties ,
- (Advanced) to Small Fonts. Doing so will ensure that the scroll
- bars are hidden when the Recovery Central window is maximized.
