  20. Configuration:
  21. DNS server is Sparc 2 running SunOS 4.1.3, BIND 4.9
  22. ypserver is IBM RS/6000-550 running AIX 3.2.3
  23.  
  24. Description of problem:
  25. BIND 4.9 documentation recommends removal of "domain" directive in
  26. /etc/named.boot, and disables support for this by default. However,
  27. "ypserv" under AIX does not appear to automatically append the domain
  28. name specified in /etc/resolv.conf to unqualified (i.e. local)
  29. hostnames.
  30.  
  31. So, the following does work:
  32.     mozart# ypmatch schubert.crs4.it hosts
  33.     156.148.3.24    schubert.crs4.it
  34. while the following does not:
  35.     mozart# ypmatch schubert hosts
  36.     ypmatch: 1831-150 Cannot match key schubert in map hosts.byname.
  37.         Reason: no such key in map.
  38.  
  39. Possible fixes:
  40. 1) Do not use AIX 3.2.x's ypserv. (This works correctly if a Sun is
  41. the ypserver.)
  42.     or
  43. 2) Enable LOCALDOM in options.h, and add a domain directive to
  44. named.boot.
  45.  
  46. Of course, if you have your local hosts in the NIS hosts map, you should
  47. not have a problem. For ease of administration, we only use DNS and
  48. "/usr/etc/yp/makedbm -b".
