  13.    QUESTION:  How do I install Wari to my hard drive?
  14.  
  15.    ANSWER:    We  have provided a simple installation program so  that
  16.               you can install Wari to your hard drive:
  17.               1. Insert the diskette into the floppy drive.
  18.               2. Type A:INSTALL (or B:INSTALL) then press [Enter].
  19.               3. A  menu  will appear which gives you  the  option  to
  20.                  install as a DOS Application or to Windows 3.1.
  21.               4. For details about how to install Wari to Windows, see
  22.                  the next question below.

  25.    QUESTION:  Can I run Wari from Microsoft Windows?
  26.  
  27.    ANSWER:    Yes,  We give you two methods for you to run Wari  as  a
  28.               DOS application under Windows:
  29.               1. EASY Method
  30.                  a) From the installation menu, select #1, "Install as
  31.                     Microsoft Windows 3.1 Application"
  32.                  b) The   directory  C:\WARI  will  automatically   be
  33.                     created, and the files copied there.
  34.                  c) When the Installation is complete, exit Windows
  35.                  d) The next time you run Windows you will see a  Wari
  36.                     group and icon.  Drag the icon with your mouse  to
  37.                     your Games group, and delete the Wari group.

  39.               2. EXPERT Method
  40.                  a) From the installation menu, select #2, "Install as
  41.                     a DOS Application"
  42.                  b) The  installation  program will prompt you  for  a
  43.                     drive and directory.  C:\WARI is the default
  44.                  c) Run Windows
  45.                  d) From  the Program Manager press the ALT-F for  the
  46.                     "Files Menu"
  47.                  e) Press N for "New"
  48.                  f) Select "Program Item"
  49.                  g) At "Description" enter Wari.
  50.                  h) At "Command Line" enter C:\WARI\WARI.PIF
  51.                  i) At "Working Directory" enter C:\WARI
  52.                  j) Press the "Change Icon" button and when it prompts
  53.                     for the file name enter C:\WARI\WARI.ICO

  56.    QUESTION:  My mouse works in Windows, why doesn't it work in Wari?
  57.  
  58.    ANSWER:    Windows  has special built-in drivers to support   mice.
  59.               Our  software  looks for a Microsoft   compatible  mouse
  60.               driver which is loaded when you  turn on your  computer.
  61.               A  diskette  should  have  come with  your  mouse  which
  62.               contains  MOUSE.SYS,   MOUSE.COM or similar  files.  Try
  63.               placing   the    command  DEVICE = MOUSE.SYS   in   your
  64.               CONFIG.SYS  file  or  the   command  MOUSE.COM  in  your
  65.               AUTOEXEC.BAT  file.    These  are  the  files  that  DOS
  66.               executes  when you  turn on your computer, and  if  your
  67.               mouse  is  Microsoft compatible, your mouse  should  now
  68.               work.

  71.    QUESTION:  I get the message "Not enough free Conventional  Memory"
  72.               and Wari doesn't run.  What can I do?
  73.  
  74.    ANSWER:    Most  people have a computer with at least 640K  memory.
  75.               At the DOS prompt, enter the command CHKDSK and it  will
  76.               likely report that you have "655360 total bytes memory".
  77.               The  last line tells you how many bytes of  CONVENTIONAL
  78.               MEMORY  your  computer has free.  If your  computer  has
  79.               less  than  528000 bytes free, a program loaded in  your
  80.               CONFIG.SYS  or AUTOEXEC.BAT file is using part  of  your
  81.               Conventional memory.

  83.               DOS  6.0  and 6.2 come with a  utility  called  MEMMAKER
  84.               which  is  designed to optimize your  computer's  memory
  85.               resources.  Enter the command MEMMAKER at the DOS prompt
  86.               to run this program.

  88.               If  you  don't  have MEMMAKER,  locate  a  knowledgeable
  89.               person  and ask  him/her to help you get these  programs
  90.               out  of conventional memory and load them "high".   Read
  91.               the information in MEMORY.TXT for further information.

  94.    QUESTION:  Wari doesn't work with my soundcard.  What can I do?
  95.  
  96.    ANSWER:    Our  program accesses the sound card directly.   If  you
  97.               have a Soundblaster compatible card that uses  different
  98.               sound  chips than the original, your soundcard  may  not
  99.               work.   Most soundcards have drivers to make them  fully
  100.               soundblaster   compatible.    For  details   read   your
  101.               soundcard  documentation.

  103.               If  your computer freezes or makes strange  noises,  run
  104.               the   command   WARI  /C  which   will   bypass   Wari's
  105.               configuration, resulting in sound being turned off.

  108.    QUESTION:  I get the message "VGA Monitor required." when I try  to
  109.               run Wari.  What can I do?
  110.  
  111.    ANSWER:    Your computer either doesn't have a VGA monitor, or  the
  112.               VGA drivers are incompatible with our software.  If  you
  113.               are sure that you have a VGA, enter the command  WARI /M
  114.               from  the DOS prompt and hope for the best.  This  is  a
  115.               special code to bypass our monitor checking routine, and
  116.               if  your computer freezes, there is no way to  run  Wari
  117.               from your computer.

  121.    QUESTION:  I  don't understand what "shareware" is.  Why do I  have
  122.               to order Wari if I already have a copy of it?
  123.  
  124.    ANSWER:    Because  you haven't paid for it.  If you "bought"  Wari
  125.               from a shareware vendor, you only paid for the disk, not
  126.               the  actual  program.  At the opening  screen  of  Wari,
  127.               press  the  F2 key.  A detailed  explanation  about  the
  128.               shareware concept will appear for you there.

  130.               If  you  discover that you are one of  the  millions  of
  131.               people who, over the centuries, have gotten addicted  to
  132.               Wari, we have reserved one feature which is available to
  133.               only  registered users:  They get to play the  Elephant,
  134.               which is an expert player.  You will never know how good
  135.               you are until you play the Elephant!
