  17. 1. What is Online Meter ?

  19. Online Meter is a utility monitoring your Dial-Up Networking or modem
  20. connections. Based on individual tariff definitions, it calculates the
  21. phone costs caused by these connections and offers several counters.
  22. Online Meter creates a detailed log of all your connections, including
  23. starting time, length, costs and descriptive information about the
  24. connection. This log can be queried using Online Meter or exported for
  25. further processing by other applications.

  27. Moreover, timers can be set to play sounds after some online time or
  28. after a given number of units.

  30. Online Meter can be adapted easily to tariff structures of most phone
  31. companies around the world. This includes support for holidays and
  32. reduction schemes. For some phone companies, prepared files with tariff
  33. definitions can be downloaded from Online Meter homepage.

  37. ---------------
  38. In order to install Online Meter, simply execute SETUP.EXE. The
  39. installation wizard will guide you through the whole setup process.
  40. To run Online Meter, simply select the entry in the Start Menu after
  41. installation.

  56. You may evaluate Online Meter for 35 days free. For details, please
  57. refer to chapter 5 of this file, License Agreement/Disclaimer.

  59. A license for Online Meter costs only 15 US$ or 20 DEM. There are
  60. several possibilities to order a license, including WWW and e-mail.

  66. 5. License Agreement/Disclaimer

  69. license agreement signed by the author, your use of this software
  70. indicates your acceptance of this license agreement and disclaimer. If

  89. Shareware version:

  91. Online Meter is shareware. You may use the program for free during a
  92. 35 day trial period beginning with the day of the installation to
  93. check if it matches your needs.

  95. If you want to continue use of this program after the expiration of
  96. that period, you have to purchase a license and to register as a user.
  97. Otherwise you have to remove the program from your computer in order
  98. not to offend against copyright laws.
  99. Remember: By purchasing a license you also support the future
  100. development of the program. 
  101. You may distribute the shareware version. But you have to pay
  102. attention only to distribute the whole set of files, consisting of the
  103. following ones:

  105.     README.TXT
  106. These files may not be changed. You are allowed to charge only a
  107. little nominal fee for the copying process. The distribution of the
  108. shareware version on CD-ROM is allowed explicitly, as long as you can
  109. recognize without doubt that this is shareware. IÆm grateful for any
  110. message telling me about the inclusion on a shareware CD, just as well
  111. as about references to press reviews.

  115. Distribution of the licensed version, that means the registered
  116. version, is not allowed. You may install the software for use on only
  117. one system at the same time. If you install the software on a network
  118. server to be used on workstations, you have to purchase a license for
  119. each workstation.

  122. so-called license key).
