eViewer
Shareware Version 2.0
User's Manual
Copyright (c) 1996 1997 by Dave Roe Inc. All Rights Reserved.
Developed and distributed by eMedia Communications Ltd.
______________________________________________
Overview
The eViewer is required to open software products created by eMedia
Communications Ltd. For example, eCards, multimedia postcards for the
internet, need to be opened by an eViewer.
eCards are cross platform and can be opened by an eViewer for the specific platform.
There are many different types of eCards - greeting eCards, proSports eCards,
animated eCards etc. The eViewer will view any of these eCards.
To successfully receive an eCard through an e-mail account you should have
your email package set up to be MIME compliant.
Commands
---------------------------
---------------------------
Open
---------------------------
Opens an eCard. Find the eCard on your hard drive in the dialog box
that pops up and open it. Close your eCard to return to the eViewer.
If your eCard was created on a system using more than 256 colours, and
your system is set to 256 colours, you will see a message telling you that
the quality of image you are about to see will not be as good as it could
be.
You can click on the buttons of the eCard to experience them.
Some turn over, some have animation, they all have sound.
If your system is working fine and you do not hear sound it is probably
because the maker of the eCard decided not to include sound.
While you may copy pictures to your computer's clipboard remember to obey
copyright laws. Makers and/or distibutors of images hold the copyright to
these images and you are not allowed to copy or use these images for your
own purposes. If on the other hand Uncle Bill sent you a picture of the
family at DisneyWorld, it's probable that Uncle Bill would not mind if you
printed off a copy of the picture.
Types
---------------------------
After you have opened up an eCard in will be registered as a type and you can click on
the type here. This will bring you to a screen where the types are listed on the left and the
eCards of that type are listed on the right. Clicking on a different type on the left will load
the cards of that type in the right box. Clicking on the eCard on the right will load that eCard.
Create
---------------------------
To create an eCard you need an eCard Maker. Presently an eCard maker is
available for Windows 95. Check our site (http://www.emedialtd.com) to see if
the eCard Maker for Windows 3.1 is available, if you want an eCard Maker for
that platform. The eCard Maker is shareware and will allow you to create a
limited number of eCards before you must register.
Exit
---------------------------
Close the program. Shows the Macromedia logo for Director - the program this
software was authored with.
Definition Of Shareware
---------------------------
Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before
buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you are
expected to register. Individual programs differ on details -- some
request registration while others require it, some specify a maximum
trial period. With registration, you get anything from the simple right
to continue using the software to an updated program with printed manual.
Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and the
copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific exceptions as
stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just like
commercial authors, and the programs are of comparable quality. (In both
cases, there are good programs and bad ones!) The main difference is in
the method of distribution. The author specifically grants the right
to copy and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a
specific group. For example, some authors require written permission
before a commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware.
Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You should
find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's
commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes fitting your needs
easier, because you can try before you buy. And because the overhead is
low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee
-- if you don't use the product, you don't pay for it.
This product is freeware.
