  1. Happy Button - Replacement Windows95 START Button

  4. DESCRIPTION :

  6. Replaces the Windows flag on the START button with
  7. a yellow happy / smiley face.  For Windows95 only.

  10. COMPATIBILITY :
  11.  
  12. HappyButton will warn you if you should or should not
  13. install HappyButton and allow you to abort installation.
  14.  
  15. If you have a different version of Windows, DO NOT
  16. install HappyButton.  See below for contact info so
  17. you can find out how to safely customize the START button
  18. yourself.

  20. Installation is reversible...so go ahead, I dare you.

  24. For HappyButton to work properly, and not do damage to
  25. your system files (well, just one) you must be running
  26. Windows95 version 4.00.095 (the final version that
  27. shipped.)  You can check this yourself by right-clicking
  28. on the My Computer icon on your desktop, and choosing
  29. Properties.

  32. INSTALLATION :
  33.  
  34. Double-click on the INSTALL file (should have a storm
  35. cloud beside it) and then click YES.  Windows95 will
  36. then drop to MS-DOS mode to allow the installation to
  37. manipulate some system files (you'll see a progress
  38. report) and then Windows will restart.

  40.  IMPORTANT ! DO NOT run any of the .BAT files
  41.              that are included in this package.

  43.       NOTE * If for some reason the installation does
  44.              NOT seem to work, you can install this
  45.              manually by dropping to MS-DOS MODE (NOT
  46.              a DOS window) and copying USER.EX_ to your
  47.              \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory as USER.EXE.

  49.              i.e.: COPY USER.EX_ \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\USER.EXE
  50.  
  51.              Be sure to make a BACKUP COPY of USER.EXE
  52.              before you do this so that you can restore
  53.              the START button's original appearance.

  55.  ALSO NOTE * Because Windows95 uses the flag icon that
  56.              appears on the START button elsewhere (such
  57.              as on error-message windows) you will see
  58.              the HappyButton icon elsewhere occasionally.

  60.              DO NOT CONFUSE THIS AS A SYMPTOM OF
  61.              MALFUNCTION OF HAPPYBUTTON !!!
