  5.     Mulithreaded Program running as a status-bar reporting system
  6.     performance and activity of your machine running OS/2.
  7.  
  8.     The features monitored are freely configurable, so you just see
  9.     what you like :-)
  10.     (Pop-up Menu is brought up by clicking the right mouse-button on the bar)

  12. INSTALLING:
  13.     NO CHANGES are made to your CONFIG.SYS and .INI files :-)
  14.  
  15.     EITHER copy the files in a directory you prefer and start SYSMON.EXE
  16.         You can create a program object on the desktop, and put it into
  17.         the STARTUP-FOLDER in order to have SysMon start every time you boot;
  18.     OR (EVEN EASIER) start the INSTALL.CMD-file, which asks you whether
  19.         you want to copy the important files into a seperate directory,
  20.         if you have MMOS2 support, and if you want a program-object on the
  21.         desktop.
  22.  
  23.     If you are updating an older version, just install/unpack SysMon into the
  24.     same directory so your old .ini file will be used - so your configuration
  25.     won't be lost. We suggest you backup your old .ini file, because
  26.     the new version adds some items.
  27.  
  28. UNINSTALLING:
  29.     In the event that you wish to remove SYSMON from your system:-(
  30.     Simple as can be : Just delete the files and desktop-object (if created)
  31.     We would ask you to send us a short message about why you are doing this.
  32.  
  33. IMPORTANT:
  34.     SYSMON permanently calibrates the CPU activity, so the longer it runs
  35.     the more accurate the measurements are.
  36.     The value is based on the lowest performance since SYSMON was started.
  37.     Therefore again: putting SYSMON in the STARTUP-FOLDER gives the best
  38.     results.
  39.  
  40.     Do not try to measure how many ressources SysMon needs with IBM's Pulse
  41.     (or a program like that) -  these monitoring tools  ..............
  42.     and so the values you get are meaningless.

  44. FEATURES

  46.     1) Time and Date
  47.     2) Uptime          - Time since boot
  48.     3) CPU - activity  - Shows how busy your system is
  49.                         (graphically as a triangle or pulse and/or text)
  50.     4) AvgCpu          - Average CPU load since program start
  51.     5) VMem            - Amount of free Virtual Memory
  52.     6) Swap            - Size of current Swap-File
  53.     7) SwapFree        - Shows how much your swap-file can
  54.                          be enlarged
  55.     8) Drives          - You can choose as many drives as you like
  56.                          to be monitored (showing their available space)
  57.     9) Especially for LAPTOP users:
  58.                        - Displays the battery status in percent of full charge
  59.  
  60.   Extra Options:
  61.  
  62.     *) Wave            - You can select a wave file which will be played
  63.                          periodically, at time intervals you choose
  64.                          (e.g. none, every quarter hour,...)
  65.     *) UpdateFrequncy  - You can choose after how many seconds
  66.                          the items 3)-8) are to be updated .
  67.     *) Font            - You can choose among four different fonts and
  68.                          configure the size and style of the font used .
  69.                          The height of the bar will be adapted to the font size.
  70.     *) NumLock         - If you like, SysMon can turn NumLock on
  71.                          at program start.
  72.     *) Shrink          - SysMon can now shrink to minimum width,so it only
  73.                          needs as much room on your screen as needed to
  74.                          accomodaet the items displayed.
  75.     *) Long Names      - you can choose whether you want long descriptions
  76.                          in the bar e.g. 'Virtual Mem' and 'UpTime',
  77.                          or if you prefer abbreviations e.g. 'VMem','Up'

  79.   Utilities:

  81.    10) Run             - Easy launching of applications
  82.    11) Task            - SysMon's own Task List optionally replaces the system
  83.                          Window List, so that pressing both mouse buttons
  84.                          brings it to the top.

  86.                          This tasklist is now more compact and will stay open
  87.                          even after losing the focus, if you configure it like
  88.                          that.
  89.                          The Task List updates itself, even while it is open,
  90.                          if e.g. a program is started or terminated.
  91.  
  92.                          MultitaskSelection is now possible.

  94.                          Lists all running tasks
  95.                           After selecting 'Info' you see:
  96.                              *) the Process ID
  97.                              *) Session
  98.                              *) ProgType (WindowAPI,...)

  100.                           You can:
  101.                              *) Kill any task
  102.                              *) Quit any task (unsaved data won't be lost)
  103.                                      either by pressing Del or with mouse
  104.                              *) Switch to any task
  105.                              *) Minimize any task

  109.                              *) use Filters so that only visible or only
  110.                                 jumpable Tasks are displayed.

  112.    12) Disk            - shows information about all drives on your system
  113.                              *) Filesystem (HPFS,CDFS,FAT,..)

  116.                              *) Description (fixed disk,not ready , ...)

  121.    13) ShutDown        - Performs a system-shutdown
  122.                              You can choose between
  123.                                   *) usual shutdown
  124.                                   *) reboot this OS/2
  125.                                   *) reboot a freely choosable drive
  126.                              The last two options will ignore the boot-manager
  127.                              if one is installed.
  128.    14) Battery         - if the machine is a laptop, pressing this button will
  129.                          display information about :
  130.                            *) 'battery life' - 100% means your battery is fully
  131.                                                     charged,
  132.                                                  0% means it is empty
  133.                            *) battery status - high, low, critical, or charging
  134.                            *) APM enabled    - 'Yes' if there is battery status
  135.                                                 information available
  136.                            *) APM online     - 'Yes' if your laptop is plugged
  137.                                                 into the wall
  138.  
  139.     SysMon will now remember it's position, so if you like to have it on top of
  140.     screen, it will appear there the next time it is started.
  141.  
  142.     A much improved help facility is now available from the pop-up menu.
  143.  
  144.     All configuration settings are centralized in a Settings notebook.
  145.  
  146.  SOUND
  147.    The program will now also run on systems where no sound-support (MMOS2)
  148.    is installed; SysMon should be able to find out if MMOS2 is installed
  149.    (if MMOS2 is not installed, all sound features are automatically disabled).

  151.    There are no longer any obligatory sounds. You can use the command line
  152.    switch -quiet or /quiet to prevent music.dll from being loaded (which will
  153.    conserve memory).
  154.    If you're sure that you don't want sound, you can even delete music.dll.
  155.  
  156.    If you get an error like MDM.DLL not found, please contact the authors
  157.    and add the -quiet switch.

  192.   You are licensed to use SystemMonitor for a period of 30 days. After
  193.   this trial period you are asked :-) to register.

  196.   The registration fee is US$10 or 100 ATS or 15 DM.
  197.   You can send the money in cash (which is cheaper for you)
  198.   or you use a postal order .
  199.   Sorry, we cannot accept other currencies!

  201.   If you use postal order, please send the money in Austrian Shillings;
  202.   if you send cash don't send coins!

  204.   Don't use any other form of payment (e.g. credit cards,checks)
  205.   as we cannot afford to accept them. (The bank charges nearly 80% of a $10
  206.   check in commission).

  208.   We are really honest, so you don't have to worry when sending
  209.   the money in cash.

  211.   Of course all of the given information will be treated confidentially.

  213.   Take care when filling in order.frm that your first and last name are
  214.   legible and correct, because your registration code is based on
  215.   this information.
  216.   After you enter this number, your version of SystemMonitor is registered.
  217.   It will be much easier if you also send us your Internet E-mail address,
  218.   so we can send you update notices and your registration number faster and
  219.   more easily.

  250.   procedure for reproducing the bug and a description of your system
  251.   configuration(hardware and software).

  253. KNOWN BUGS:
  254.   The CPU-Monitor is not optimized for laptops, so you should disable it when
  255.   using a battery driven machine.
  256.  
  257.   When closing a shell with SysMon's Task List it sometimes happens that
  258.   the confirmation dialog doesn't react when you use the mouse, you have 
  259.   to confirm by using the keyboard.
