  3.     Please read the PowerChute plus Release Notes in 
  4.     addition to the Owner's Manual before installing 
  5.     PowerChute plus for OS/2.  Installation and 
  6.     configuration details will be explained correctly.      
  7.     The PowerChute plus Release Notes take precedent over
  8.     the PowerChute plus Owners's Manual.

  12. Installation:
  13.  
  14.     - Insert the 3.5" PowerChute plus for OS/2 diskette into
  15.       the appropriate drive and execute the installation
  16.       routine by typing the following at the floppy drive
  17.       prompt:
  18.         
  19.         setup  <enter>  
  20.         
  21.  
  22.     - Once the installation routine begins, answer the
  23.       questions that follow to install PowerChute plus.
  24.  
  25.  
  26. The following items have been changed on your OS/2 
  27. system:

  29.     The following PowerChute files have been copied to 
  30.     your hard drive in the PowerChute directory specified
  31.     during the installation process:

  60.     The CONFIG.SYS was modified to add the Pwrchute 
  61.     directory to the LIBPATH.
  62.  
  63.     The variable SET PWRCHUTE=DRIVE:\PATH was also 
  64.     added to the CONFIG.SYS.
  65.  
  66.     The file STARTUP.CMD was modified/created 
  67.     to auto start UPSD.EXE.
  68.  
  69.  
  70. The UPS service routine path was modified to point to 
  71. the PowerChute install path.
  72.  
  73.  
  74. Stand Alone OS/2:
  75.  
  76.     Ensure that UPSD is the first command in 
  77.     the STARTUP.CMD file.
  78.  
  79.     Reboot the OS/2 system. 
  80.  
  81.     When the system restarts, ensure UPSD.EXE is 
  82.     started and communication is established.
  83.  
  84. Lan Installations:
  85.  
  86.     
  87.     If LAN Servers' own (native) UPS service is 
  88.     installed it has been removed for PowerChute
  89.     plus to work correctly. 
  90.     
  91.     
  92.     If you are running PowerChute on more than 
  93.     one server in your network, refer to the 
  94.     PowerChute manual to add a PWRCHUTE account, 
  95.     and Named pipe to your domain.
  96.  
  97.     When starting the PowerChute interface screen 
  98.     in a Domain with other PowerChute servers, not 
  99.     all systems may appear in the "Select Server" dialog
  100.     upon startup.  
  101.     
  102.     If the server you wish to connect to is not in 
  103.     the list, ensure that UPSD is running on that system. 
  104.     If so, simply cancel out of the "Monitor Sever" box, and 
  105.     choose "MONITOR DIFFERENT SERVER". This 
  106.     will give the LAN enough time to gather all the 
  107.     available servers.
  108.  
  109. OS/2 3.0 (WARP) Users
  110.  
  111.     If you are using OS/2 Warp on an EISA machine, there
  112.     is the possibility that there is a problem with the 
  113.     COM.SYS driver which ships with the software.  This 
  114.     driver is essential for the proper operation of PowerChute
  115.     plus.  If you are having problems communicating with
  116.     the UPS, then contact IBM Tech Support at the number
  117.     on the inside of your OS/2 Warp Owner's Manual.  You 
  118.     will need to ask for APAR PJ15906.
  119.  
  120. EMAIL Support
  121.  
  122.     EMAIL capability is not supported in this release.  
  123.  
  124. --Languages Supported--
  125.  
  126.     The additional languages supported include:
  127.         German
  128.         Spanish    
  129.         French
  130.         Italian
  131.  
  132.     To make use of the desired language the appropriate language
  133.     files need to be copied to the pwrchute directory.  See Release
  134.     Notes for instructions.
