  18. Before installing Desktop On-Call
  19. ---------------------------------
  20.  
  21. * To install Desktop On-Call on OS/2 Warp 3/4, you have to apply the latest
  22.   CSD to your operating system.
  23.  
  24.   - In case of Japanese Warp3, WX03006 or later.
  25.   - In case of Japanese Warp4, FixPak FX00505 + SinglePTF JR12308 or later.
  26.   - In case of English Warp4, fix pack 6 or later.

  29. Before uninstalling Desktop On-Call
  30. -----------------------------------

  32. * Just right after uninstall Desktop On-Call from OS/2, OS/2 never shutdown
  33.   even tough you select shutdown. you also have to force shutdown the system
  34.   by Ctrl + Alt + Del.

  37. When invoking Desktop On-Call
  38. -----------------------------

  40. * Please do NOT start Desktop On-Call executable modules from explorer or
  41.   other launcher. It will cause unexpected trouble.

  44. When remote controlling
  45. -----------------------
  46.  
  47. * When you cannot connect from your browser even if you enter the correct URL,
  48.   please check the Desktop On-Call server machine if the status is "Stopped".
  49.   If the status is "Stopped", please push "start" button to make the status
  50.   "Waiting".
  51.  
  52. * When controlling Windows, the performance or the quality of drawing may be
  53.   extremely bad if the screen color is not Windows standard. Please use
  54.   the standard color set.
  55.  
  56. * When controlling OS/2 with 256 or less color screen, selecting
  57.   "solid paint" as the color of desktop background and title bar
  58.   makes the performance and quality of drawing better.
  59.  
  60. * When controlling Windows 95/98, unlock window of the screen saver may flick on
  61.   the browser side if the motion of the screen saver is very active. Even so,
  62.   you can still input the password.
  63.  
  64. * When controlling OS/2, please do not enter the full screen mode. Once you
  65.   enter the fullscreen mode, you lose the control and never be able to be
  66.   back to PM.
  67.  
  68. * When controlling OS/2, the lock icon shown by the screen saver is not
  69.   displayed on the browser side and only the entire black screen is displayed
  70.   but it's working correctly.

  72. * When controlling OS/2, if the heavy application like showing animation GIFs
  73.   is running on the Desktop On-Call server side, the input from the browser
  74.   may not be transferred to the server side.

  76. * Comet Cursor ( OS/2 function ) makes worse movement of mouse pointer
  77.   in controlling side, if you are using OS/2 Netscape Navigator as
  78.   controlling side. please set the comment cursor off to avoid 
  79.   above situation.

  81. * You might not be able to input Tab, Esc nor arrow keys
  82.   when you are using Internet Explorer 4.0 Macintosh version.
  83.   These are Internet Explorer 4.0 Macintosh version's limitations.

  85. * If you are using IBM 3270/5250 Personal communication via Desktop 
  86.   On-Call, P-Com unique key such as Execution key (Enter Key) does not
  87.   work properly. We recommend to use Popup-KeyPad function of P-com by
  88.   mouse operation.

  90. * Some screen saver makes the Desktop On-Call download performance
  91.   down seriously. Please check your screen saver before you actually use
  92.   Desktop On-Call.

  94. * If the screen resolution is changed during remote control, you may be
  95.   requested user ID/password again. In the case, please input the correct
  96.   user ID/password.
  97.  
  98. * If the screen resolution is changed during remote control, window size
  99.   on the browser may become incorrect. In the case, please log on again by
  100.   pushing the "reload" or "logon" button.
  101.  
  102. * When using Netscape Navigator 4.0 for AIX, please select "Internet Explorer"
  103.   as the primary browser. If "Netscape" is selected, screen
  104.   drawing may be incorrect.

  107. About basic connection mode
  108. ---------------------------

  110. * If you are using the browser which doesn't meet the requirement of
  111.   Desktop On-Call (JavaScript, LiveConnect), basic connection mode will
  112.   start. Following browsers can use only this basic connection mode.
  113.  
  114.     - IE4, IE4.5 for Mac
  115.     - Netscape 4.04 for OS/2
  116.     - Netscape 4.6 (all platforms)
  117.  
  118.   This mode has the following restrictions.
  119.  
  120.     - Only one browser window is used.
  121.     - Screen reduction rate is only 100%. Zoom function is disabled.
  122.     - File transfer function is disabled.
  123.     - SSL option is off.
  124.  
  125.  
  126. About instruction pointer
  127. -------------------------
  128.  
  129. * When controlling OS/2, the area around the pointer will not be updated
  130.   even if the screen is changed. The area will be redrawn after the second
  131.   pointer moves.
  132.  
  133. * When controlling Windows, the mouse key event happened on the instruction
  134.   pointer will be discarded.

  137. About SSL
  138. ---------

  140. * JDK 1.1 or higher is required on the browser side.
  141.  
  142. * SSL is not supported on OS/2 Warp3.
  143.  
  144. * Simple remote control mode doesn't support SSL.

  147. About wallpaper off
  148. -------------------
  149.  
  150. * Wallpaper off is not support on OS/2.
  151.  
  152. * When you control Windows NT machine, wallpaper might not be recover
  153.   after disconnection. Re-logon will recover the wallpaper or
  154.   please re-select the wallpaper after selecting other wallpaper once.
  155.  
  156. * When using Windows version with "Wallpaper Off" option ON, if you
  157.   try to connect to the same machine on which the browser is working
  158.   with Netscape Navigator, screen redrawing happens repeatedly
  159.   and the connection fails.
  160.  
  161. * When using Windows version with "Wallpaper Off" option ON, if you
  162.   log off and log on again, the wallpaper is displayed again.
  163.  
  164.  
  165. About 256 color while idling time
  166. ----------------------------------
  167.  
  168. * If you find out the 256 color while idling time is not working properly,
  169.   please check if an clock or a pulse in Warp center is working.
  170.   This kind of tools are always updating Screen, that is why
  171.   OS/2 system does not go to idle state. So Desktop On-Call
  172.   can not send 256 color information due to no idle time.
  173.   Do not use this kind of tools.

  175.  
  176. About logon panel
  177. -----------------
  178.  
  179. * If you leave the logon panel without inputting user ID/password more than
  180.   3 minutes, logon time out occurs. After that, you cannot log on even if
  181.   you input the correct user ID/password. In the case, please restart the
  182.   logon panel by pushing the reload or logon button.

  185. About on-line help
  186. ------------------
  187.  
  188. * To refer to the on-line help, web browser is required. In case of OS/2,
  189.   Netscape Communicator 4.04 is required.

  192. About file transfer
  193. -------------------

  195. * When using the file transferring function on Netscape Communicator for Mac,
  196.   following restrictions are applied.
  197.  
  198.   - The home directory on the guest PC is the directory where the browser is
  199.     installed.
  200.   - The home directory on the guest PC cannot be changed.
  201.   - Directory copy is disabled.
  202.   - The user cannot make a new directory on the guest PC.
  203.   - Date information may not be correct.
  204.   - The user cannot edit the directory path. To traverse the directory, please
  205.     select it in the list box.

  208. About Windows98

  211. * Desktop On-call connection may fail from the browser attached to
  212.   Active Desktop.
  213.  
  214. * "Remove wallpaper" option is not effective if the browser is attached to
  215.   Active Desktop.

  217. * Multi-display is not supported.

  220. About Mac
  221. ---------

  223. * Any combinations of any modifier keys such as control, shift, option, command
  224.   are ignored. Only one modifier key can be combined with any character keys.
  225.   (command + Q combination is OK. shift + command + Q is NG.)

  228. About Mac browsers
  229. ------------------

  231. * When using any browsers on Mac (Internet Explorer or Netscape Communicator),
  232.   please allocate 8MB - 12 MB memory to the browser.
  233.   If the actual memory is small, please make the virtual memory large enough.

  235. * When using Internet Explorer, please select MRJ from Apple as JVM. You can
  236.   download the latest MRJ from Apple's Web-page.

  238. * When using Internet Explorer, please do not push "Back" button. It could
  239.   halt the system.
