===========================================
********* Why I did this ******************
This document was converted from HTML to IPF for use with OS/2
versions of POV-Ray, or windoze users who have the reader.
I did this for several reasons.
1) Browsers are just not as snappy I like.
2) I didn't like the 'too close to text' layout of the HTML docs.
3) I find text documents entirely to tedious to absorb.
4) IPF may have fallen behind HTML but it is still an excellent hypertext engine.
********** About this document *************
This document was converted with two Rexx scripts. One converts HTML to IPF and
the other creates the Hyper-Doc panels. There was very little actual editing,
mainly just refining my scripts. (over 700 lines combined) The resulting IPF
tagged file is over 21,000 lines.
If you use the install script provided from the same directory as the file
it will automatically launch the Hyper-Doc panel. You can launch any panel this
way, although you may need quotes around the panel name.
Developers can derive the res numbers from the section numbers and the HyperDoc
panel tags can be revealed by pulling the four digit number from the file name
after you double click on the notepad.
The document you see here is the official POV-Ray HTML docs in a brand new suit,
nothing more. If you like them great, if not then please realize that I have
received nada, nothing, no deniro, zero, zippo, nuts, not one smacker, no money
for this. As such I do not intend to devote time to further enhancing this
document unless new docs arrive, in which case I'm way ahead of the game. Should
you be aware of a major document revision I would be happy to process it at my
convenience.
Hey, have a great day. Why not? You're using OS/2.
Find my e-mail in Appendix E.
This software is free to use and falls under all POV-ray copyrights, restrictions
etc... For legal purposes this is the POV-ray documentation and may not be sold
without appropriate permissions, theirs and mine.
********* Check out the Hyper-Doc function! *****************
Using the install command file provided will place the Hyper-Doc panel on your
parameter line after the file name. Try this out and see if it isn't a zippier,
more connected way to use IPF. I like to always have my directory structure at
hand when I study and I don't like to lose my place when I do lots of hyper-text
jumps. Enter Hyper-Doc! The most outstanding INF files I've ever seen were IBM's
programming documentation, and the DR-REXX INF file. I've taken the IBM style and
left the file essentially vanilla otherwise. Use it either way. I have a Rexx
script that will convert IPF files to Hyper-Doc IPF and it adds very little overhead.
********* Installing the file for optimum usage *************
Unzip the .INF and .CMD files to the directory of your choice and run install.cmd.
This will give you the advantage of coming up to the Hyper-Doc windows.
You may find these easier to navagate, however you can close them and use
the bland vanilla INF.
If you decide you don't like the Hyper-Doc windows or would like to come up
on a different panel simply change the parameters to reflect your choice.
ie: remove 'Hyper-Doc' or replace it with another panel name.
This is a little known feature of the Information Presentation Facility.
Enjoy
