  12. What is it?
  13.  
  14.        NHView is a simple to use viewer for use in OS/2 Fullscreen sessions.
  15.        It does 256 and 16 million colours. But 16 million colour format 
  16.        pictures will not display on 8bit graphics cards. This will likely be
  17.        fixed in a newer release, since I myself can only view 8bit pictures 
  18.        like it is now. If anyone got a Mach64 and makes it work, let me know.
  19.        Works with JPG, RLE, IRIS, PBM, BMP, PCX and most GIF-files.
  20.        It is not perfect, doesn't support all GIF files, does not support any 
  21.        other formats, and is not too fast. On the bright side, what we got here
  22.        is a nice companion to any of the Norton Commander clones currently 
  23.        available for OS/2, like File Commander, Nemo and so on.....

  25. What do you need to run it?

  27.        Well, a release of OS/2 2.x or 3.x should be ok. But you do need a
  28.        SVGA driver correctly installed. You should have a SVGADATA.PMI file
  29.        in your OS2 directory that identifies your SVGA graphics card and
  30.        supported resolutions. I have also tested the program with newer drivers 
  31.        that do not use the SVGADATA.PMI card, and that also worked ok...

  33. Problems?

  35.        Doesn't it run? Well first of all, any 8514/a graphics card is not 
  36.        supported. And some ATI Mach64 owners have experienced problems
  37.        running it...  Make sure you do not run your ATI card in 8514/a mode!!!
  38.        I have successfully run it on both Mach32 and Mach64 graphics cards
  39.        myself. If you got a mach64 and get it working, send me your 
  40.        SVGADATA.PMI file! (It is in the OS2 directory on your bootdrive.)

  45.        Mail me at jonny@hsr.no with decoding source in C/C++ for other
  46.        graphics formats or working code for all GIF formats. If you got a
  47.        Mach64 card lying around collecting dust, and want to give it to me,
  48.        drop me a mail, It seems to be the only card this software doesn't run
  49.        on. It would be nice to get it working, and of course the infamous
  50.        8514/a.......

  55.        identify 8bit GIF's by itself....
