  17. What is it - the "LOSUNG"?
  18. ---------------------------

  20. The "LOSUNG" (watch word) is a selection of two bible
  21. verses per day, one from the Old, one from the New Testament. It has
  22. been distributed in German language as a booklet since over 200 (!)
  23. years. It is available in English, too. In the last years, the Losung
  24. texts have been made available on disk. There are programs to display
  25. these texts for DOS, Windows, OS/2 and more (see
  26. http://www.evangelium.de/losung/).

  28. OS2LOS98.ZIP contains 
  29.  
  30. - the display program for OS/2 Presentation Manager
  31. - the Losung texts in English and German language for 1998
  32. - a (totally separate) Losung screen saver module for the Deskpic screen
  33.   saver (the latter is from John Ridges)

  36. Installation

  39. OS2LOS98.ZIP contains two files:
  40.  
  41.   README.1ST   = you just read this file
  42.   OS2LOS98.EXE = installation program for OS/2 Presentation Manager

  44. Simply start the installation program. Its features are:
  45.  
  46. - it lets you select the installation language, i.e. the language for the
  47.   program texts AND for the bible verses, either English or German.
  48. - lets you specify a target directory to put all files in
  49. - if desired, puts the display program into the startup folder (so the
  50.   Losung will be displayed when you start your computer)

  57.   LOSUNG2.EXE   = the program to display the Losung texts on the screen
  58.   LIESMICH.TXT  = German version of README.TXT

  60.   UK_LOS98.TXT  = the English text for 1998
  61.   UKOS2LOS.DAT  = English message strings for LOSUNG2.EXE
  62.   LOSUNG12.ZIP  = Losung as a deskpic screen saver

  64. If you select the German language during the installation process, you
  65. get the following files:

  67.   LOSUNG98.TXT  = the German text for 1998
  68.   DEOS2LOS.DAT  = German messages strings for LOSUNG2.EXE

  71. Features of Losung/2
  72. --------------------

  74. - display the watch word (verse from Old and New Testament) of the current day
  75. - copy these verses to the OS/2 clipboard
  76. - switch day, month and year (spin buttons)
  77. - display information about the history of the Losung, license stuff etc.
  78. - change the location where the texts are searched
  79. - still a surprise: "life story"

  82. Screen saver
  83. ------------

  85. LOSUNG12.ZIP contains one loadable screen saver module for use with
  86. the popular Deskpic screen saver (author John Ridges, thanks!).  You
  87. need the Deskpic screen saver to use LOSUNG12.ZIP. LOSUNG12.ZIP
  88. provides one loadable module for this screen saver. You will be able
  89. to enter the directory where the Losung texts reside. When Deskpic
  90. selects the Losung module (which can be forced by declaring it as
  91. "single saver"), it will blank the screen and display the Losung text
  92. of the current day in varying positions and colours. Look for
  93. deskp132.zip in ftp-os2.nmsu.edu/os2/graphics or a related place (as
  94. for 12/96).
