  9. DESCRIPTION

  11. WarpCenter is inconsistent with the rest of the Workplace Shell (WPS).
  12. For example, a right click on WarpCenter objects opens the application 
  13. or folder; it does not bring up the Properties notebook as on the WPS.

  15. RESOLUTION
  16.  
  17. The WarpCenter is a hybrid of the Lotus SmartCenter and the OS/2 Warp 
  18. LaunchPad/Toolbar. As such, it is not expected to be totally consistent 
  19. with the WPS. In fact, the Toolbar is not consistent with the rest of 
  20. the WPS, because user feedback data indicated that the objects on the 
  21. Toolbar should be opened with a single click instead of a double click 
  22. like other objects on the Desktop.

  24. WarpCenter combines two different paradigms:
  25.  
  26. * DropDown Menu Navigation, which is new to the graphical user 
  27.   interface; this was only used in file managers before
  28.  
  29. * Object Toolbar behavior
  30.  
  31. These are discussed below.

  33. Drop Down Menu Navigation
  34. -------------------------

  36. The WarpCenter provides drop down menu navigation of Desktop objects 
  37. through the OS/2 Warp button in the upper left corner of the Desktop. 
  38. This is in parallel to the object hierarchy of the objects on the 
  39. desktop; OS/2 System, Assistance Center, Connections, Programs, etc. 
  40. From this drop down menu you can explore the entire desktop or network, 
  41. if you want. The Left Mouse Button (MB1) takes you through the 
  42. hierarchy by opening a drop down menu view of the item you select. The 
  43. Right Mouse Button (MB2) opens a container object in icon view or 
  44. launches an executable.

  46. Object Toolbar behavior

  49. The object tray on the WarpCenter contains objects, and if you click MB2
  50. on one of them, such as the Drives object, or the Command Prompts 
  51. folder, an object popup context menu appears, as if the object were on 
  52. the Desktop. If you click MB1, a drop down menu view of container 
  53. contents appears, or, if the object is an executable, it is launched, 
  54. as if it were on the Toolbar.
  55. If you go down into the drop down menu and click MB2, container objects 
  56. open in icon view and executables launch, consistent with the dropdown 
  57. menus of the OS/2 Warp button.
