  11. DESCRIPTION

  13. This document describes how to install S3 drivers with OS/2 Warp.
  14.  
  15. RESOLUTION

  17. Note: Make sure you have a backup of any file you intend to change.
  18.  
  19. The following S3 Corporation chip sets and video device drivers are
  20. supported and should be selected during installation:
  21.  
  22.    Chip Sets:            S3 86C801, 86C805, 86C928
  23.    Video Device Drivers: S3 86C801, 86C805, 86C928
  24.  
  25.    Chip Set:             S3 86C864
  26.    Video Device Driver:  S3 864

  28. S3 964 Video Chip-Set Problems with OS/2 Warp
  29. ---------------------------------------------
  30. Symptoms
  31.  
  32. Unable to install high resolution with OS/2 Warp on a system with S3 
  33. 964 video chip set.
  34.  
  35. Resolution
  36.  
  37. Contact Number 9 or Diamond computer vendor for an OS/2 device driver 
  38. to run in high resolution (SVGA).
  39.  
  40. Installing S3 964 Drivers on OS/2 Warp

  42. Symptoms
  43.  
  44. * Installation does not finish.
  45. * Installation process locks up.
  46.  
  47. Resolution
  48.  
  49. Edit the S3INST.CMD file and change all references to x:\OS2 to 
  50. x:\OS2\BOOT (x is the drive where OS/2 is installed).
  51.  
  52. The drivers cannot be installed in their original format because they
  53. refer to the OS/2 directory. OS/2 Warp installs the drivers into the
  54. OS2\BOOT directory.
  55.  
  56. Procedure
  57.  
  58. 1. Insert the S3 Driver Diskette in the diskette drive.
  59.  
  60. 2. Type the letter of the diskette drive (for example A:) and press
  61.    Enter.
  62.  
  63. 3. Type E S3INST.CMD and press Enter.
  64.  
  65. 4. Change x:\OS2 to x:\OS2\BOOT (x is the drive where OS/2 is
  66.    installed).
  67.  
  68. 5. Save the file; then continue the installation.
