  13. DESCRIPTION
  14.  
  15. A system locks up when trying to close a WIN-OS/2 Window session. The 
  16. system has an ATI8514 or compatible board, and the CONFIG.SYS file has 
  17. VSVGA instead of VVGA.
  18.  
  19. RESOLUTION
  20.  
  21. You need to make changes to the CONFIG.SYS file and to WIN-OS/2 options.
  22.  
  23. Note: Make sure you have a backup of any file you intend to change.
  24.  
  25. Edit the CONFIG.SYS File
  26. ------------------------
  27. 1. Open an OS/2 Window session.
  28.  
  29. 2. At the command prompt, type E CONFIG.SYS and press Enter.
  30.  
  31. 3. Press Ctrl+S to display the Search window.
  32.  
  33. 4. Type VSVGA in the Search window.
  34.  
  35. 5. Type VVGA in the Replace window.
  36.  
  37. 6. Select the Find push button.
  38.  
  39. 7. Select the Change push button.
  40.  
  41. 8. Press F4 to save and exit the file.

  43. Change WIN-OS/2 Options
  44. -----------------------
  45.  1. Point to an empty space on the Desktop and press mouse button 2.
  46.     The Desktop menu appears.
  47.  
  48.  2. Select System Setup. The System Icon view appears.
  49.  
  50.  3. Select WIN-OS/2 Setup.
  51.  
  52.  4. Click on WIN-OS/2 Settings with mouse button 1.
  53.  
  54.  5. Press the M key.
  55.  
  56.  6. Type A000 - C7FF in the Value box.
  57.  
  58.  7. Select the Option window and press Starting Seamless Application.
  59.  
  60.  8. Highlight VIDEO_RETRACE.
  61.  
  62.  9. Select ON; then select the Option window.
  63.  
  64. 10. Click on VIDEO_ROM_EMULATION with mouse button 1.
  65.  
  66. 11. Select ON; then select the Option window.
  67.  
  68. 12. Click on VIDEO_SWITCH_NOTIFICATION with mouse button 1.
  69.  
  70. 13. Select ON; then select the Option window.

  72. 14. Save and exit the window.

  74. 15. Close the WIN-OS/2 Settings window.

  76. 16. Shut down and then restart the system.
