  13. DESCRIPTION
  14.  
  15. This document describes how to set up the IBM LaserPrinter 4029 and IBM 
  16. LaserPrinter 4029E for serial-interface communication.
  17.  
  18. RESOLUTION
  19.  
  20. For a serial-interface connection, use either:
  21.  
  22. * IBM Serial Cable P/N 6486685 (6.1 m or 20 ft)
  23. * Non-IBM serial cable with the IBM Serial Interface Adapter Plug
  24.   P/N 1319143
  25.  
  26. 1. Turn off the computer and the LaserPrinter.
  27.  
  28. 2. Make sure the serial cable is attached to both the computer and the
  29.    LaserPrinter.
  30.  
  31. 3. Press the Font and Orientation buttons and turn on the printer.
  32.  
  33. 4. Press and hold the Font and Orientation buttons until operator-panel
  34.    lights come on.
  35.  
  36.    The number 6 appears, and only the Ready and Download lights are on.
  37.  
  38. 5. See the instructions in the 4019 Guide to Operations, page 10-7, to
  39.    set up the following configuration:
  40.  
  41.    * Handshake Protocol: Serial DTR (selection 1)
  42.    * Data Rate: 9600 or 19200 (selection 2--default)
  43.    * Data Bits-Per-Frame: 8 (selection 2--default)
  44.    * Parity: None (selection 3--default)
  45.  
  46. 6. Press and release the Code and Orientation buttons at the same time
  47.    to save the configuration.
  48.  
  49. 7. Press and hold the Code button while you press and release the Reset
  50.    button to exit the printer configuration function.
