Setting Up the IBM LaserPrinter 4019 for Serial Printing in
OS/2 2.1 or OS/2 2.11

DESCRIPTION
This document describes how to set up the IBM LaserPrinter 4029 and IBM
LaserPrinter 4029E for serial-interface communication.
RESOLUTION
For a serial-interface connection, use either:
* IBM Serial Cable P/N 6486685 (6.1 m or 20 ft)
* Non-IBM serial cable with the IBM Serial Interface Adapter Plug
P/N 1319143
1. Turn off the computer and the LaserPrinter.
2. Make sure the serial cable is attached to both the computer and the
LaserPrinter.
3. Press the Font and Orientation buttons and turn on the printer.
4. Press and hold the Font and Orientation buttons until operator-panel
lights come on.
The number 6 appears, and only the Ready and Download lights are on.
5. See the instructions in the 4019 Guide to Operations, page 10-7, to
set up the following configuration:
* Handshake Protocol: Serial DTR (selection 1)
* Data Rate: 9600 or 19200 (selection 2--default)
* Data Bits-Per-Frame: 8 (selection 2--default)
* Parity: None (selection 3--default)
6. Press and release the Code and Orientation buttons at the same time
to save the configuration.
7. Press and hold the Code button while you press and release the Reset
button to exit the printer configuration function.
