  13. This document describes AttachPak for OS/2 Warp Connect.

  17. AttachPak for OS/2 Warp Connect provides a broad set of advanced
  18. connectivity capabilities, including a Lotus Notes Desktop trade-up 
  19. from Lotus Notes Express that creates an enhanced enterprise solution 
  20. for medium and large corporate customers.

  22. Advanced Connectivity Features
  23. ------------------------------
  24. OS/2 Warp Connect offers a full set of integrated networking
  25. capabilities and software that provide peer and remote connections 
  26. along with TCP/IP for dial-up and LAN access to the Internet, access to 
  27. the most popular online services, and Lotus Notes Express. AttachPak 
  28. builds on the foundation of OS/2 Warp Connect to provide advanced 
  29. connectivity and groupware capabilities that many businesses require. 
  30. In addition to providing access to Notes applications, the AttachPak 
  31. allows users to process host information through 3270 terminal 
  32. emulation.

  36. Lotus Notes Desktop

  38. Designed for organizations that want a cost-effective way to deploy 
  39. corporate-wide applications. Notes Desktop is a Notes run-time client 
  40. that allows users to utilize Notes applications, and includes 25 
  41. application templates such as customer tracking, document library, and 
  42. work flow. Additionally, Notes Desktop enables organizations to 
  43. leverage Notes' unique groupware capabilities, including compound 
  44. document management, mobile support, replication, and robust security.

  46. IBM Personal Communications/3270 for OS/2 Entry Level
  47.  
  48. Allows communication abilities between desktop users and mainframes. 
  49. This emulation capability increases productivity for the user by 
  50. allowing access to information stored on a host computer within the 
  51. organization.

  53. Communications Manager/2 SNA Application Environment
  54.  
  55. Protects customers' investments by allowing computers to exchange data
  56. with systems using the Advanced Program-to-Program Communication (APPC) 
  57. protocol. The SNA Application Environment allows users to access 
  58. information from a mainframe or workstation.

  60. Mobile File Sync

  62. Allows LAN clients to disconnect from the network and still work with 
  63. cached files from the server. When the client is reconnected, mobile 
  64. and server files are synchronized. This ensures that users will be 
  65. working with the most current version of their data.

  67. Performance Monitoring

  69. Allows a network administrator to determine if a computer is running at 
  70. peak efficiency. System Performance Monitor/2 helps identify and solve 
  71. performance issues of OS/2 systems via data collection, recording, 
  72. graphing, reporting, and analyzing facilities for a single workstation.

  74. Additional Features

  76. Additional features include a Distributed Computing Environment (DCE) 
  77. Client, a Dial-in-Access-to-LANs (DIALs) client that allows remote LAN 
  78. access using an IBM 8235 Server and AnyNet Sockets for OS/2 to support 
  79. protocol independence for Socket applications. AnyNet Sockets for OS/2 
  80. allows these applications to run over NetBIOS, IPX, or SNA networks. 
  81. AttachPak also provides NetView Distribution Manager/2 (NVDM/2) Start 
  82. Up, which downloads the NVDM/2 client that is licensed separately. The
  83. NVDM/2 client permits software distribution over a network.

  85. This addition to the OS/2 Warp family of products further strengthens 
  86. the ability of users to grow within the OS/2 Warp product line. Clients 
  87. can use the single platform to expand from the premier 32-bit desktop 
  88. operating system to OS/2 Warp Connect, LAN Server, and to the upcoming 
  89. OS/2 Warp Server.
