=======================================================================
Applying IC10390 for GETHOSTNAME and GETHOSTID Connections
using the Advantis Dialer
=======================================================================
Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedure
-------------------------------------------------------------
DESCRIPTION
Once you have downloaded the IC10390 fix for the systems, there is no
README file or instructions on how to apply it for GETHOSTNAME and
GETHOSTID error messages using the Advantis Dialer.
RESOLUTION
After downloading the IC10390 fix from the FTP site, follow the steps
below:
1. From an OS/2 Window, locate the AFINET.SYS and INETCFG.EXE files on
the system. Type DIR /S AFINET.SYS (or INETCFG.SYS) from the root
directory to find the files.
Note: Normally, the AFINET.SYS can be found in the
x:\MPTN\PROTOCOL subdirectory and INETCFG.EXE
in the x:\MPTN\BIN subdirectory (where x
represents the drive where OS/2 is installed).
2. Rename the files.
Change: AFINET.SYS
To: AFINET.OLD
Change: INETCFG.EXE
To: INETCFG.OLD
The files are renamed instead of replaced in case the two later file
versions are corrupted during the download process.
3. Copy the new AFINET.SYS and INETCFG.EXE that you have downloaded to
the appropriate subdirectories.
4. Shut down and restart your system for the changes to take affect.
5. Make the connection that you tried when the error occurred.
6. The connection should now be made without any error messages.
7. If you received no error messages, you can delete the AFINET.OLD and
INETCFG.OLD files.
8. If there are error messages, you need to download IC10390 again.
Corruption occurred during the first download of the file.
9. Repeat steps 2 through 7 with the newly downloaded file.
If additional assistance is required, please contact the OS/2 support
line.
