OSINWNPR - TRAP IN WIN-OS/2 AFTER INSTALLATION ON HPFS DRIVE WHEN OS/2
WARP IS ON FAT DRIVE.
11/11/96
=======================================================================
Trap in WIN-OS/2 after Installation on HPFS Drive when OS/2 Warp is on
FAT drive.
=======================================================================
Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures
--------------------------------------------------------------
DESCRIPTION
With OS/2 Warp 4 installed on a FAT (File Allocation Table) partition,
and WIN-OS/2 support installed on an HPFS (High Performance Filing
System) partition, a trap000D error occurs whenever you attempt to open
any DOS or WIN-OS/2 session. When the system is restarted after the
trap000D, it complains that WIN-OS/2 and DOS support is not installed.
Selective uninstall and reinstall of DOS and WIN-OS/2 support does not
resolve the problem; then nothing happens at all when you attempt to
start a DOS or WIN-OS/2 session.
RESOLUTION
Installing the WIN-OS/2 portion of OS/2 on a different drive
than the rest of OS/2 is not supported since the installation program
expects everything to go on the same partition.
Therefore, to resolve this problem, use Selective Uninstall to remove
WIN-OS/2 support, then use Selective Install to install WIN-OS/2
support in the same partition with OS/2.
