  10. DESCRIPTION
  11.  
  12. "OS/2 is unable to operate hard disk or diskette drive" error appears 
  13. at first restart, when a second hard disk is installed and partitioned 
  14. as D: Primary.
  15.  
  16. RESOLUTION
  17.  
  18. 1. Insert OS/2 Warp Installation Diskette in drive A: and restart the 
  19.    system.
  20.  
  21. 2. Insert Diskette 1 when prompted.
  22.  
  23. 3. Press F3 at the Welcome screen to escape to a command prompt.
  24.  
  25. 4. Type FDISK and press Enter.
  26.  
  27. 5. Press Tab and use the arrow key to go to Disk 2.
  28.  
  29. 6. Press Tab and use the arrow key if necessary to highlight
  30.    the D: Primary partition and press Enter.
  31.  
  32. 7. Select Delete partition.
  33.  
  34. 8. Highlight the FreeSpace and press Enter.
  35.  
  36. 9. Create the partition, as an Extended Logical Drive.
  37.  
  38. 10. Press F3 to save and exit.

  40. 11. Insert the OS/2 Installation Diskette and press Ctrl+Alt+Del. 
  41.     Follow the prompts to install OS/2.
