  13. DESCRIPTION
  14.  
  15. After installing OS/2 for Windows, you get a red screen or red box and 
  16. the error message:
  17.  
  18.    Open file error.
  19.  
  20. RESOLUTION
  21.  
  22. The SETUP.INF file is damaged. Copy it to the WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  23. subdirectory:
  24.  
  25. 1. Go to the drive where Windows 3.1 is installed.
  26.  
  27. 2. Type CD\WINDOWS\SYSTEM and press Enter to change to the
  28.    WINDOWS\SYSTEMS subdirectory.
  29.  
  30. 3. Type REN SETUP.INF SETUP.OLD and press Enter to rename SETUP.INF.
  31.  
  32. 4. Insert Windows 3.1 Diskette 1 in drive A.
  33.  
  34. 5. Type A: and press Enter.
  35.  
  36. 6. Type COPY SETUP.INF x:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM and press Enter (x is the drive
  37.    where Windows 3.1 is installed).
  38.  
  39. 7. Remove the diskette.
  40.  
  41. 8. Try the installation again.
