  11. DESCRIPTION

  13. When attempting to start OS/2, on systems using a Promise EIDEMAX 
  14. adapter at BIOS revision 1.14, the system locks with a blank screen and 
  15. blinking cursor.

  17. RESOLUTION
  18.  
  19. There is an incompatibility problem between Promise's latest BIOS, 
  20. version 1.14, and OS/2.  To avoid the problem, you can either:
  21.  
  22. 1. Disable the BIOS on the Promise adapter. (Refer to the
  23.    documentation that comes with the adapter for instructions 
  24.    on how to do this.)

  26. or,
  27.  
  28. 2. Back-level the BIOS to version 1.13; this version corrects the 
  29.    problem.  Contact Promise to obtain version 1.13, at 408-452-1180, 
  30.    or on the World Wide Web at http://www.promise.com.
