  1. OSINACPA - INSTALLING M-ACPA WITH NON-M-ACPA AUDIO SUPPORT IN OS/2 WARP

  5.      Installing M-ACPA with Non-M-ACPA Audio Support in OS/2 Warp

  11. DESCRIPTION
  12.  
  13. This procedure consists of two phases.
  14.  
  15. Phase 1 installs all M-Audio Capture and Playback Adapter (M-ACPA) 
  16. cards during OS/2 Warp base installation. All non-M-ACPA audio devices 
  17. must be removed to prevent their installation from auto-detection.
  18.  
  19. Phase 2 uses Selective Install to install all Non-M-ACPA audio devices 
  20. removed during Phase 1. All M-ACPA cards must be removed to prevent 
  21. their re-installation from auto-detection.
  22.  
  23. All M-ACPA cards must be installed before installing any non-M-ACPA 
  24. audio devices. There is no work-around for installing M-ACPA devices 
  25. and non-M-ACPA devices, and then installing an additional M-ACPA using 
  26. another Selective Install.

  28. RESOLUTION
  29.  
  30. Phase 1: Full OS/2 Warp Installation
  31. ------------------------------------
  32. 1. Select the Multimedia Device Support button in the System
  33.    Configuration window.
  34.  
  35. 2. Highlight the Non-M-ACPA device in the Device in the System to be
  36.    Installed list box in the Device Selections and Settings window.
  37.  
  38. 3. Select Remove.
  39.  
  40. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all non-M-ACPA audio devices are removed.
  41.  
  42. 5. Select the Device Settings push button for the remaining IBM M-Audio
  43.    Adapter selections in the Devices in System to be Installed list box.
  44.  
  45. 6. Select the number of M-ACPA cards in your system from the M-Audio
  46.    Settings window; then select OK.
  47.  
  48. 7. Select OK in the Device Selections and Settings window.
  49.  
  50. 8. Select OK when all installable options are set correctly.

  52. 9. Complete the OS/2 Warp installation.

  55. Phase 2: Selective Install of OS/2 Warp
  56. ---------------------------------------
  57.  1. Open OS/2 System.
  58.  
  59.  2. Select Selective Install.
  60.  
  61.  3. Select Multimedia Device Support in the System Configuration window.
  62.  
  63.  4. Highlight IBM M-Audio Adapter in the Device in the System to be
  64.     Installed list box.
  65.  
  66.  5. Select Remove.
  67.  
  68.  6. Highlight the non-M-ACPA audio device removed during Phase 1 from
  69.     the Supported Devices list box in the Device Selections and
  70.     Settings window.
  71.  
  72.  7. Select Add.
  73.  
  74.  8. Highlight the newly added Non-M-ACPA audio device in the Devices in
  75.     System to be Installed list box.
  76.  
  77.  9. Select the Device Settings button.

  79. 10. Set the appropriate settings for the card-specific pop-up window;
  80.    then select OK when complete.

  82. 11. Repeat steps 5 through 9 until all non-M-ACPA audio devices are
  83.     added.

  85. 12. Select the OK button in the Device Selections and Settings window.
  86.  
  87. 13. When the installable options are set correctly, select OK in the
  88.     System Configuration window.
  89.  
  90. 14. Ensure Multimedia Software Support is checked in the OS/2 Setup and
  91.     Installation window; then select the Install push button.
  92.  
  93. 15. Complete the OS/2 Warp Selective Install.
