Problems Installing OS/2 Warp on the IBM Aptiva

Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures

DESCRIPTION
This document describes what to do if you experience problems
installing OS/2 Warp on the IBM Aptiva.
RESOLUTION
Install WAPTIV.ZIP for OS/2 Warp 3.0 SYSLEVEL XR_3000.
Note: You must be at the General Availability (GA) level of code
(XR03000) to install WAPTIV.ZIP. To determine the level of your
system, type SYSLEVEL and press Enter at an OS/2 command prompt;
then look for "IBM OS/2 Base Operating System." Be sure the
"Current CSD Level" is XR03000.

Note: You need PKUNZIP to unzip" the downloaded file.
1. Dial the IBM PCC BBS at 919-517-0001. When you connect to the BBS,
you are asked for the following information:
Name (F): First Name
Name (L): Last Name
Password: Create a password
Note: If you cannot connect to the BBS, contact your local IBM
branch office.
2. Press D at the New User Main Menu; then type the file name you want
to download. You need the following file:

WAPTIV.ZIP (See "WAPTIV.ZIP Files" below.)
3. Select N, 8, 1 as the communications protocol.
4. Download WAPTIV.ZIP; then unzip it.

IBM2FLPY.ADD: Diskette driver for Micro Channel systems
XDFLOPPY.FLT: Device driver for XDF format
XDFCOPY.EXE: Program to create XDF diskettes from image files
APTIVA.DOC: Instructions for using the diskettes you create
APTIVA.CD1: OS/2 Warp Replacement DISK 1 for CD-ROM installation
APTIVA.DK2: OS/2 Warp Replacement DISK 2 for Diskette installation
APTIVA.UPD: OS/2 Warp 3.0 Program Update diskette
Read README.1ST for instructions on creating the diskettes from the
APTIVA CD1, DK2 and UPD files.
Follow the instructions in APTIVA.DOC for using the diskettes you
create.
