  3.   ERROR DESCRIPTION:
  4.   HARDWARE:any system with cirrus logic
  5.   chipset.cl-gd5422/24/26/28
  6.  
  7.   SOFTWARE:CSD FOR "OS2 FOR WINDOWS(XR06300).
  8.  
  9.   problem recreation:
  10.   If customer is runing vga(640x480x16) with os2 for windows and
  11.   after applying csd xr06300 attempts to change to svga,during
  12.   selective install for svga and after fonts are loaded from ga
  13.   diskettes,an error message as ".dsc not found" pups up and
  14.   process gets broken.
  15.  
  16.   COMMENTS:
  17.   Work around for restoring svga after xr06300.
  18.  
  19.   1- Boot to os2 desktop and Open an os2 window or full screen
  20.      session and change
  21.      to c:\os2\install.(c: is os2 boot drive).
  22.  
  23.   2- (A) If you applied service pack using diskettes rather than
  24.   CDROM
  25.          At the c:\os2\install type:  RSPDSPI /PK:VGA /SK:NONE
  26.   /S:A:\ /S:C:
  27.          then insert display diskette#1 from service pack in
  28.   drive a: and press on
  29.          enter key and follow the screen.

  31.      (B) If you applied service pack using CD-ROM;
  32.          At c:\os2\install type:  RSPDSPI /PK:VGA /SK:NONE
  33.   /S:\Y:\SPZ629\ /T:C:
  34.          note:Y: is the CD-ROM drive letter.
  35.          c: is os2 boot drive.

  37.   3- Change to os2 sub-directory and if svgadata.pmi and
  38.   svgadata.err exist,delete
  39.      them.

  41.   4- Do a shut down and re-boot from hard disk.
  42.  
  43.   5- (A) Open an os2 session and create a temporary directory on
  44.   hard disk. By
  45.          entering the following command at the "C:\" prompt:
  46.          md temp <enter>
  47.  
  48.      (B) Insert system(not display) diskette #1 from "os2 for
  49.   windows" GA(not service
  50.          pack)and do as below:
  51.          (NOTE: if you have 5 1/4 diskettes,use system(not
  52.   display) diskette#2)
  53.          c:unpack a:bundle c:\temp
  54.      (C) cd temp <enter>
  55.      (D) copy psXXX.dsc c:\os2\install\*.* <enter>
  56.          note:xxx is the name of video chipset.**

  58.   6- Do selective install for svga using "os2 for windows"
  59.   ga(using cd-rom or
  60.      diskettes).
  61.      (A)-open os2 system icon,open system setup icon,open
  62.   selectiveinstall icon.
  63.      (B)-Select primary display and push on OK.
  64.      (C)-Select "super vga array(svga)" and push on OK.
  65.      (D)-Push Ok for next screen,too.
  66.      (E)-on next screen push on install.
  67.      (F)-On next screen for "source directory":
  68.          1-If you have diskettes,push on install button and
  69.   follow the screen.
  70.          2-If you have CD_ROM,push on "change" button and select
  71.

  74.            directory and then push on install button.
  75.          NOTE: respond "yes" to all questions.

  77.   7- Do a shut down and re-boot(you should be in selected
  78.   hi-res).
  79.   8- Apply service pack again.(this only updates some video
  80.   related files).

  91.   for western digital             pswd.dsc
  92.   and so on.......
