  17. Question:   My modem software doesn't work at 9600 baud with my
  18.             Windows and DOS Software.

  20. Answer:     A OS/2 2.0 VDM (virtual DOS Machine) only provides 1000
  21.             VDM interuppts per second.  This is too slow for 9600
  22.             baud.  Lower the modem speed to 4800 Baud or lower.
  23.             This will be addressed in a future version of OS/2 2.0.

  26. Fax Boards and Fax Software

  29. Question:   My Windows Fax Software doesn't work from a seamless
  30.             windows session.

  32. Answer:     Some software does not work correctly in a WINOS/2
  33.             window, try running it from a full screen WINOS/2
  34.             session.

  36. Question:   My fax software doesn't work at 9600 baud with my
  37.             Windows and DOS Software.

  39. Answer:     A OS/2 2.0 VDM (virtual DOS Machine) only provides 1000

  43.             cannot slow down your fax software, then it will not

  46. WINOS/2 Scanners and Scanner Software

  49. Question:   Logitech Scanman 256 doesn't run on WINOS/2, but runs
  50.             in a VDM by itself.

  52. Answer:     Logitech Scanman uses a DLL which makes a 4B interrupt
  53.             call. This interrupt is not supported under WINOS/2.
  54.             This interrupt is planned to be supported in the next
  55.             release of WINOS/2.  No workaround. APAR#PJ04100-
  56.             closed PER - available next release.

  58. Question:   FOTOTOUCH doesn't run on WIN-OS/2.

  60. Answer:     FOTOTOUCH uses the same DLL Logitech Scanman uses which
  61.             makes a 4B interrupt call.  This interrup is not
  62.             supported under WINOS/2.  It is planned to be supported
  63.             in a future release of WINOS/2.  No workaround.

  66. Multimedia

  69. Question:   Soundblaster applications do not work correctly under
  70.             WIN-OS/2.
  71.  
  72. Answer:     Some Soundblaster and Soundblaster PRO applications
  73.             will work OK.  However, many soundblaster applications
  74.             have problems.  Most of these problem applications try
  75.             to use more than 1000 interrupts per second to generate
  76.             sound.  The Parrot program provided with soundblaster
  77.             is one of these problem applications.  Applications
  78.             that use DMA for sound generation instead of the
  79.             interrupt method will have a better chance of running.
  80.             The 1000 interrupt per second problem is being
  81.             addressed.  Currently there are no work arounds if you
  82.             are experiencing problems with a Soundblaster board.

  85. Question:   MIDI software and boards do not work correctly.
  86.  
  87. Answer:     Some MIDI software and applications also experience
  88.             problems because of the 1000 interrupts problem.  No
  89.             workaround at this time.  APAR# PJ04498
