COMM Ports not Available When Using OS/2 for Windows with XR06300
and Windows for Workgroups 3.11
-----------------------------------------------------------------
SYMPTOM:
When running OS/2 For Windows with Windows For Workgroups
3.11, WIN311.ZIP should be used. After applying WIN311.ZIP,
WIN-OS/2 should work except for the communications driver
where the error message Comm ports not available
occurs. The COMM.DRV driver in Windows For Workgroups
3.11 is different than the COMM.DRV driver in standard
Windows 3.10. WIN311.ZIP did not address the driver.
RESOLUTION:
Use the COMM.DRV file from standard Windows 3.10, not
the COMM.DRV included with Windows For Workgroups 3.11.
PROCEDURE:
Replace COMM.DRV in Windows For Workgroups \WINDOWS\SYSTEM,
directory with the COMM.DRV file from standard Windows 3.10.
