TITLE: DOWNLEVELING TO VGA USING XR06200 AND XR06300. (SEE
WARNING AT THE BOTTOM BEFORE BEGINNING)
DESCRIPTION OF SYMPTOMS: N/A
SUMMARY OF RESOLUTION:
Reset the system to vga using the procedures below.
DETAILS OF RESOLUTION:
I. XR06200
A. DSPINSTL-Assume desktop is functional
1. Open an OS2 (window or fullscreen) session.
2. Type "DSPINSTL" at the prompt and select to install
vga. See your install guide (page 114) for details on this
procedure. 3. Shutdown and reboot when prompted to do so.
B. RSPDSPI-Assume desktop is functional
1. Open an OS2 session.
2. Change to the x:\os2\install directory. The x would
be the driver letter assigned to the drive where OS2 is
installed.
3. Type in the following command:
RSPDSPI /PK:VGA /SK:NONE /S:A:\ /T:X:
where "X" is the drive where OS2 is installed.
4. When prompted insert the xr06200 display driver
diskettes.
5. When RSPDSPI is finished reboot the system.
C. RSPDSPI-Assume desktop is not functional
1. Boot from the OS/2 2.1 ga base diskettes (install
diskette and diskette one).
2. When prompted escape out to command prompt at the
welcome screen.
3. Now follow steps 2 through 5 of B.
NOTE: IF YOU HAVE A CD-ROM THE RSPDSPI COMMAND IS:
RSPDSPI /PK:VGA /SK:NONE /S:Z:\SP6I617\ /T:X:
Z=YOUR CD-ROM DRIVE LETTER
X=YOUR OS2 DRIVE LETTER
D. IF OTHER VENDOR'S DRIVERS ARE IN USE
1. Download the file called 211DDU.ZIP from the IBM
BBS. The # to dial is (919)517-0001.
2. Follow the README for instructions on running this
utility. This utility was designed to recognize other
manufacturers drivers and reset OS2 to vga.
*** NOTE: 211DDU.ZIP IS ONLY DESIGNED FOR XR06200 CODE LEVEL.***
II. XR06300
A. RSPDSPI-Assume desktop is functional
1. Follow steps under I. B.
2. When prompted insert the display driver diskettes
from xr06300.
B. RSPDSPI-Assume desktop is not functional
1. Follow steps under I. C.
2. When prompted insert the display driver diskettes
from xr06300.
NOTE: IF YOU HAVE THE CD-ROM VERSION USE THE SAME COMMAND STATED
ABOVE FOR CD-ROM; HOWEVER, CHANGE SP6I617 TO SPZ629.
WARNING: IF YOU ARE USING OEM DRIVERS OR THINKPAD 750C DRIVERS,
THEY MUST BE REMOVED PRIOR TO RUNNING THESE PROCEDURES.
THE IBM OS2 SUPPORT CENTER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REMOVING
THESE DRIVERS. FOR 750C DRIVERS, THINKPAD SUPPORT(1-800-772-2227)
MUST BE CONTACTED AND FOR THE OEM DRIVERS, THE VENDOR MUST
BE CONTACTED FOR SUPPORT ON THE REMOVAL OF THE OEM DRIVERS.
