  5. TITLE:  DOWNLEVELING TO VGA USING XR06200 AND XR06300.  (SEE

  10. SUMMARY OF RESOLUTION:

  12. Reset the system to vga using the procedures below.
  13.  
  14. DETAILS OF RESOLUTION:
  15.  
  16. I.  XR06200
  17.      A.  DSPINSTL-Assume desktop is functional
  18.           1.  Open an OS2 (window or fullscreen) session.
  19.           2.  Type "DSPINSTL" at the prompt and select to install
  20.        vga.  See your install guide (page 114) for details on this
  21.        procedure. 3.  Shutdown and reboot when prompted to do so.
  22.  
  23.      B.  RSPDSPI-Assume desktop is functional
  24.           1.  Open an OS2 session.
  25.           2.  Change to the x:\os2\install directory.  The x would
  26.        be the driver letter assigned to the drive where OS2 is
  27.        installed.
  28.           3.  Type in the following command:
  29. RSPDSPI /PK:VGA /SK:NONE /S:A:\ /T:X:
  30.        where "X" is the drive where OS2 is installed.
  31.           4.  When prompted insert the xr06200 display driver
  32.        diskettes.
  33.           5.  When RSPDSPI is finished reboot the system.
  34.  
  35.      C.  RSPDSPI-Assume desktop is not functional
  36.           1.  Boot from the OS/2 2.1 ga base diskettes (install
  37.        diskette and diskette one).
  38.           2.  When prompted escape out to command prompt at the
  39.        welcome screen.
  40.           3.  Now follow steps 2 through 5 of B.
  41.  
  42. NOTE:  IF YOU HAVE A CD-ROM THE RSPDSPI COMMAND IS:

  44. RSPDSPI /PK:VGA /SK:NONE /S:Z:\SP6I617\ /T:X:
  45.      Z=YOUR CD-ROM DRIVE LETTER
  46.      X=YOUR OS2 DRIVE LETTER
  47.  
  48.        D.  IF OTHER VENDOR'S DRIVERS ARE IN USE
  49.           1.  Download the file called 211DDU.ZIP from the IBM
  50.        BBS.  The # to dial is (919)517-0001.
  51.           2.  Follow the README for instructions on running this
  52.        utility.  This utility was designed to recognize other
  53.        manufacturers drivers and reset OS2 to vga.

  58.      A.  RSPDSPI-Assume desktop is functional
  59.           1.  Follow steps under I. B.
  60.           2.  When prompted insert the display driver diskettes
  61.        from xr06300.

  63.      B.  RSPDSPI-Assume desktop is not functional
  64.           1.  Follow steps under I. C.
  65.           2.  When prompted insert the display driver diskettes
  66.        from xr06300.
  67.  
  68. NOTE:  IF YOU HAVE THE CD-ROM VERSION USE THE SAME COMMAND STATED
  69.        ABOVE FOR CD-ROM; HOWEVER, CHANGE SP6I617 TO SPZ629.

  71. WARNING:  IF YOU ARE USING OEM DRIVERS OR THINKPAD 750C DRIVERS,
  72.        THEY MUST BE REMOVED PRIOR TO RUNNING THESE PROCEDURES.
  73.        THE IBM OS2 SUPPORT CENTER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REMOVING
  74.        THESE DRIVERS.  FOR 750C DRIVERS, THINKPAD SUPPORT(1-800-772-2227)
  75.        MUST BE CONTACTED AND FOR THE OEM DRIVERS, THE VENDOR MUST
  76.        BE CONTACTED FOR SUPPORT ON THE REMOVAL OF THE OEM DRIVERS.
