Information on QUANTUM HARD CARDS (CP) 3/15/94
OS2QUANT.FAX
*****************************************************************
QUANTUM HARD CARDS
Please read the following in entirety:
1) Access to the Quantum Hard Cards that utilize the driver
IBM1S506.ADD can be gained by using the switch settings for a
secondary controller. The switches required for the hardcard
are the adapter number and the IRQ level.
2) If you have the Quantum XL50 or XL105 Hard Cards, then a BIOS
upgrade is required for OS/2. Contact Quantum for assistance
with proper Hard Card setup and BIOS upgrades at
1-800-345-3377.
3) OS/2 2.1 Special Edition for Windows - If you have a Quantum
Hard Card, you must make a modification to the
BASEDEV=IBM1s506.ADD line in the CONFIG>SYS file of Diskette
1 before you install OS/2 2.1 Special Edition. The BASEDEV
statement should be modified as follows:
BASEDEV=IBM1S506.ADD /A:1 /IRQ:11
(These are the default settings for the Quantum hard card.)
If you have added a device driver statement to the CONFIG.SYS
file on diskette 1 and later migrate your old CONFIG.SYS
file, make sure there are not two copies of this statement
in your file. If you have two copies of this statement in
your file, REM one statement out.
