  3. PAWINLOT -- PUBLIC APPLICATIONS with LOTUS 123 R4.0 for WINDOWS
  4.  
  5. DESCRIPTION OF SYMPTOMS:
  6.    The correct operation of Lotus 123 and the Lotus License Management
  7.    Facility are the prime considerations in the development of this
  8.    procedure.
  9.  
  10. SUMMARY OF RESOLUTION:
  11.    The following is an example of installing LOTUS 123 Release 4 for
  12.    Windows in a Domain for use as a Public Application for use by OS/2
  13.    Requester Workstations. Selected items, such as Aliases and drives,
  14.    can be customized for specific circumstances.

  17. DETAILS OF RESULUTION:
  18.    STEPS AT THE SERVER
  19.  
  20.         LOTUS 123 RELEASE 4 for WINDOWS - NETWORK VERSION was installed
  21.         in the PUBLOTUS subdirectory on the D: drive of the Server.
  22.

  24.         1. OPEN WIN-OS2 SESSION
  25.  
  26.             A. Double click on the OS/2 SYSTEM icon
  27.             B. Double click on the COMMAND PROMPTS folder
  28.             C. Double click on the WIN-OS2 FULL SCREEN icon
  29.

  31.         2. INSTALL LOTUS 123 for WINDOWS (Release 4 was used)
  32.  
  33.             A. Click on FILE in the PROGRAM MANAGER
  34.             B. Click on Run in the pull-down.
  35.             C. Insert Diskette 1 of the Lotus 123 product in Drive A.
  36.             D. Type A:INSTALL in the COMMAND LINE box and click on OK.
  37.             E. In the 123 DIRECTORY panel, ensure the Drive is D: and
  38.                the path is \PUBLOTUS\LOTUS\123R4W.
  39.             F. Fill in the appropriate information for SQL SERVER NAME
  40.                and PARADOX TABLES.
  41.             G. In the LICENSER DIRECTORY panel, ensure the Drive is D:
  42.                and the directory is \PUBLOTUS\LICENSER.
  43.             H. In the PATH TO LICENSE DIRECTORY, ensure that the Drive
  44.                is D: and the directory is \PUBLOTUS\LOTSHARE.
  45.             I. In the LOTUS COMMON DIRECTORY panel, ensure the Drive is
  46.                D: and the directory is \PUBLOTUS\LOTUSAPP.
  47.             J. Follow the instruction to complete the installation.
  48.             K. Exit the Installation.

  51.         3. SET NUMBER of LICENSES
  52.  
  53.             A. Click once on the LICENSER icon in the Lotus Application
  54.                Window.
  55.             B. Click on FILE in the Program Manager top menu and
  56.                PROPERTIES in the pull down.
  57.             C. Ensure the following is the only path in the Working
  58.                Directory entry and then click on OK
  59.  
  60.                      D:\PUBLOTUS
  61.  
  62.             D. Double click on LICENSER and click on SET COUNT in the
  63.                Licenser Window.
  64.             E. Set the number of licenses purchased in the Set the
  65.                Number of Licenses window and click on OK.
  66.             F. Exit the Licenser panels and Exit WIN-OS2.

  69.         4. CREATE the .CMD FILE for PUBLIC APPLICATIONS
  70.  
  71.             A. In an OS/2 Window or Full Screen session type
  72.                EPM D:\PUBLOTUS\LO123RUN.CMD and press ENTER.
  73.             B. Type the following in the editor:
  74.  
  75.                START "LOTUS 123 R4" /WIN L:\LOTUS\123R4W\PROGRAMS\123W.EXE
  76.  
  77.             C. Save the file and exit the editor.

  80.         5. CREATE the ALIAS
  81.  
  82.             A. In an OS/2 Full Screen session, type NET and depress ENTER.
  83.             B. At the MAIN MENU, select Definitions from the top menu and
  84.                ALIASES from the pull down and FILES from the pop up.
  85.             C. Select NEW on the screen, select ACTIONS from the top menu
  86.                and CREATE from the pull down.
  87.             D. Fill in the panel:

  89.                 ALIAS                   PUBLOTUS
  90.                 DESCRIPTION             Describe the Alias as desired
  91.                 SERVER NAME             Depress F4 and select HERE
  92.                 SERVER PATH             D:\PUBLOTUS
  93.                 SHARED                  AT SERVER STARTUP is recommended
  94.                                         but AS REQUIRED BY USER is O.K.

  97.         6. CREATE INITIAL ACCESS CONTROL PROFILE
  98.  
  99.             A. From the MANAGE ALIAS FILES menu, select PUBLOTUS.
  100.             B. Select ACCESS PROFILE for the top menu, CREATE from the
  101.                pull down.
  102.             C. Enter XR in the PERMISSIONS for USERS and press ENTER.
  103.             D. From the  MANAGE ALIAS FILES menu, select PUBLOTUS.
  104.             E. Select ACCESS PROFILES for the top menu, APPLY from the
  105.                pull down and press ENTER.
  106.             F. ESC to the MAIN PANEL.

  109.         7. SETTING ACCESS CONTROL for the LICENSE DIRECTORIES
  110.  
  111.             A. From the MAIN PANEL, select DEFINITIONS from the top
  112.                menu and ACCESS CONTROL from the pull down.
  113.             B. Select SERVERS from the top panel and DISPLAY PROFILES
  114.                by SERVER.
  115.             C. Select HERE
  116.             D. Locate D:\PUBLOTUS\LICENSER and select.
  117.             E. Select ACTIONS from top menu and UPDATE from pull down.
  118.             F. Specify XRWCDAP in PERMISSIONS and press ENTER.
  119.             G. Locate D:\PUBLOTUS\LOTSHARE and select.
  120.             H. Select ACTIONS from top menu and UPDATE from pull down.
  121.             I. Specify XRWCDAP in PERMISSIONS and press ENTER.
  122.             J. Locate D:\PUBLOTUS\LOTSHARE and select.
  123.             K. Select ACTIONS from top menu and APPLY from pull down
  124.                and press ENTER.
  125.             L. ESC to the MAIN PANEL.

  127.          NOTE: Access Control Profiles may need to be created for those
  128.                directories that will contain the Data/Spreadsheet files.

  131.         8. DEFINING the PUBLIC APPLICATION
  132.  
  133.             A. From the MAIN PANEL panel, select DEFINITIONS from the top
  134.                menu and APPLICATIONS from the pull down.
  135.             B. Select PUBLIC OS/2 APPLICATIONS.
  136.             C. Select NEW, ACTION from the top menu and CREATE from the
  137.                pull down.
  138.             D. At the CREATE OS/2 APPLICATIONS DETAILS panel, fill in
  139.                the panel:

  151.             F. From the MANAGE OS/2 APPLICATIONS panel, select LOTUS.
  152.             G. Select ACTIONS from the top menu and WORKING DIRECTORY
  153.                from the pull down.

  164.         9. PLACING APPLICATION in the USER'S PUBLIC APPLICATIONS FOLDER

  166.             A. From the MANAGE OS/2 APPLICATIONS panel, select LOTUS.
  167.             B. Select STARTER from the top menu and select ADD from the
  168.                pull down.
  169.             C. Add the application to the users needed and press ENTER.

  175.    STEPS AT EACH WORKSTATION

  178.     The following must be executed at each workstation to gain access
  179.     to Lotus 123 for Windows and the Lotus License Management Facility.

  182.         1. LOGON TO THE DOMAIN CONTROLLER
  183.  
  184.             A. In an OS/2 Window or Full Screen session type the following
  185.                and press ENTER:
  186.  
  187.                     LOGON userid  /P:password
  188.  
  189.                where userid is the actual userid and password is
  190.                the correct password for the userid entered.
  191.

  193.         2. OBTAIN THE L: DRIVE.
  194.  
  195.             A. In an OS/2 Window or Full Screen session enter the
  196.                following and press ENTER:
  197.  
  198.                   NET USE L: PUBLOTUS

  201.         3. OPEN WIN-OS2 SESSION
  202.  
  203.             A. Double click on the OS/2 SYSTEM icon
  204.             B. Double click on the COMMAND PROMPTS folder
  205.             C. Double click on the WIN-OS2 FULL SCREEN icon

  208.         4. INSTALL LOTUS 123 for WINDOWS on the WORKSTATION
  209.  
  210.             A. Click on FILE in the PROGRAM MANAGER
  211.             B. Click on Run in the pull-down.
  212.             C. Type L:\LOTUS\123R4W\INSTALL in the COMMAND LINE box and
  213.                click on OK.
  214.             D. Complete the installation by entering the appropriate
  215.                information. NOTE: When the DRIVE OF LOTUS COMMON
  216.                DIRECTORY appears, specify L.
  217.             E. Exit the WIN-OS2 session.
  218.             F: Type LOGOFF in an OS/2 session.
  219.             G. LOGON to the Domain as in step 1. When the PUBLIC
  220.                APPLICATION icon appears, it can be opened and LOTUS
  221.                can be executed by double clicking on it's icon.

  224.         LOTUS 123 can now be run from the WIN-OS2 session or
  225.         (seamlessly) from the Public Applications icon.
