OSMKQAS - MOUSE/KEYBOARD QUESTIONS
01/18/94
----------------------------------------------------------------
1. What's wrong with my INTERNET connection? Why does
it work for a short time, and then disconnect?
There may be a compatibility problem with the Uart. To check:
1. At the C:\ prompt, type: MODE COM(n)
Where (n) is the com port the modem is connected to, for
example, 1, 2, 3,....
2. Check the BUFFER= parameter. If it is BUFFER=N/A, you are
using 16450 Uart or less, which causes a compatibility problem
with this configuration.
Apar PJ16278 has been opened for this problem. The current fix
is to upgrade to a 16650 Uart.
----------------------------------------------------------------
2. I installed Warp over Windows 3.11 and I am getting error
messages when trying to run a communcation application. What's
wrong?
Windows based communication applications do not work correctly in
the Win/OS2 session if Warp is installed over Windows 3.11.
Symptoms include errors indicating that no modem is present or
other communication related messages.
To solve the problem:
1.Backup the old COM.DRV file.
2.Add the Windows 3.1 COM.DRV to the \windows\system
directory.
If you only have 3.11, contact Microsoft or your hardware
manufacturer for the 3.1 COM.DRV.
----------------------------------------------------------------
3. I installed Warp on my IBM Thinkpad 720 and now the
PCMCIA modem does not work. What should I do?
On the IBM Thinkpad 720, the modem appears in the configuration
manager, but when you go to use it, an error message indicates
the device driver is not working or is not installed.
There is a fix available on the IBM PCC BSS at 919-517-0001. In
directory 4 on the BBS is the file XR_WPK1.DSK
----------------------------------------------------------------
4. Why am I getting SYS1620 and SYS0049 errors on my EISA system?
On EISA machines running Warp GA COM.SYS drivers, the Com
ports do not work. The symptons are SYS1620 and SYS0049, or
the machine hangs when the com port is accessed.
There is a fix available on the IBM PCC BSS at 919-517-0001. In
directory 4 on the BBS is the file XR_WPK1.DSK
----------------------------------------------------------------
5. When I press Ctrl+Alt+Del the system doesn't always rebooot.
What's wrong?
At times, pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del does not restart the system after
a shutdown. This usually occurs on Gateway machines, but can
happen on other OEM machines. Apar PJ16211 addresses this
problem.
The quick fix is to press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice, very
rapidly. If this does not work, turn off the machine.
----------------------------------------------------------------
6. Why do I get a SYS1201 error after installing my mouse?
Mouse works during install but after installation reboot, it
does not work. A SYS1201 error appears when the CONFIG.SYS
loads the driver. Copy the Mouse.SYS from Installation Disk 1
into the OS2\BOOT subdirectory. If the problem is not fixed, run
Selective Install and select the correct mouse type.
----------------------------------------------------------------
7. Where can I find information for setting my modem for
Faxworks?
The README.DOC in the Faxworks subdirectory has a comprehensive
list of modems and required settings.
----------------------------------------------------------------
8. Why aren't my mouse and the pointer aligned when
using Windows 3.11 in a Win-OS/2 session?
On Dell and other OEM machines with Windows 3.11, the mouse
pointer is an inch off from where the pointer actually is.
Check the size and date of the MOUSE.DRV in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM
subdirectoy. It should be dated 3/10/92 and a size of 10672k.
If not, download the MOUSE.ZIP from the Dell BBS at 512-728-8528
or contact your hardware manufacturer for the stated MOUSE.DRV.
Copy the correct MOUSE.DRV to the WINDOWS\SYSTEM subdirectory.
