  1. How to get the latest LANStreamer Device D      1/26/94

  4. DIRECTIONS FOR OBTAINING THE LATEST LANSTREAMER DEVICE DRIVERS
  5. --------------------------------------------------------------
  6.  
  7. TR_DIAGG.DSK, the LANStreamer device driver image, is available
  8. from three places:
  9.  
  10.    -   OS/2 Bulletin Board System
  11.    -   IBM PC Company Bulletin Board System
  12.    -   LANPROD tools disk on VM (IBM internal)
  13.  
  14. (The bulletin board services require appropriate communications
  15. software, a modem, and an analog line.)
  16.  
  17. A.  To obtain the device driver from the OS/2 Bulletin Board
  18.     System:
  19.  
  20.         -   Call 1-800/547-1283 to register and to get the
  21.             local number for accessing the OS/2 BBS.  (There
  22.             is a fee for this bulletin board service, but there
  23.             is no long distance charge.)
  24.  
  25.     1.  Dial the local number to the OS/2 BBS given to you
  26.         at registration time.
  27.  
  28.     2.  Access the OS/2 Software Library, OS/2 Selective Fixes.
  29.  
  30.     3.  Download the following files in binary.  There are two
  31.         versions of the LANStreamer Diags and Drivers.  Select a
  32.         package and follow the prompts to download the files:

  34.             LANSTR32
  35.                 LANStreamer 32 Adapter Diags and Driver 1.1 1-19-94
  36.             LANSTR16
  37.                 LANStreamer 16 Adapter Diags and Driver 1.1 1-19-94
  38.  
  39.      4.  Execute LOADDSKF.EXE to build the adapter diskette.
  40.  
  41.              Example:  LOADDSKF  pathUTR_DIAGG.DSK  A:
  42.  
  43.      The diskette will contain the newest device driver for
  44.      LANStreamer.
  45.  
  46.  B.  To obtain the diskette from the IBM PC Company Bulletin
  47.      Board system:
  48.  
  49.      1.  Call the bulletin board system.
  50.          - the number is (919)-517-0001
  51.          - parameters are 1200-14400bps, 8-N-1
  52.  
  53.      2.  Follow the instructions to register on the bulletin
  54.          board system.
  55.  
  56.      3.  From the BBS main menu, download the diskette image
  57.          ( TR_DIAGG.DSK ):
  58.          -  Type, D <enter>  (to perform download operation).
  59.          -  Type, TR_DIAGG.DSK <enter> (for the filename to
  60.             download).
  61.          -  Select the protocol for performing the file transfer
  62.             between the BBS and the communications software.
  63.             This must be selected on both the BBS and the local
  64.             communication software.
  65.             -  Download the diskette image.
  66.  
  67.      4.  From the BBS main menu, download the diskette formatter
  68.          program ( LDF.COM ).
  69.          -   Type, D <enter>  (to perform download operation)
  70.          -   Type, LDF.COM <enter> (for the filename to download)
  71.          -   Select the protocol for performing the file transfer
  72.              between the BBS and the communications software.
  73.              This must be selected on both the BBS and the local
  74.              communications software.
  75.          -   Download the diskette image.
  76.  
  77.      5.  Insert a blank diskette in the A: drive.
  78.  
  79.      6.  Execute LDF.COM from a DOS or OS/2 2.x command prompt.
  80.  
  81.      7.  Execute LOADDSKF.EXE from the same command prompt using the
  82.          following command:

  84.              LOADDSKF  pathUTR_DIAGG.DSK  A:
  85.  
  86.  C.  To obtain the diskette from VM
  87.  
  88.      The device driver diskette image can be obtained from the
  89.      LANPROD tools disk on VM.  The package is called LANSTR32.
  90.  
  91.      1.  From the VM prompt type
  92.  
  93.             TOOLCAT LANPROD
  94.  
  95.      2.  Do a GET on the LANSTR32 package.
  96.  
  97.      3.  Download the file, TR_DIAGG.DSK as a binary file.
  98.  
  99.      4.  Execute LOADDSKF.EXE
