ERROR MESSAGE SYS1719 WHILE INSTALLING OS/2 3.0 WARP

SYMPTOM:
Receiving a SYS1719, <FILENAME> does not contain a valid device
driver or file system driver. The error lists a specific
filename that is not recognized.
SYS1719: The file "***" specified in the *** command
on line *** of the CONFIG.SYS file does not contain a
valid device driver or file system driver. Line *** is ignored.
RESOLUTION:
The file specified does not contain a valid device driver or
file system driver, or contains a valid DOS device driver when
a DOS session was not started.
Perform one of the following actions, then restart the system:
- Edit the CONFIG.SYS file to correct or remove the
incorrect command.
- Edit the CONFIG.SYS file to remove the PROTECTONLY=YES
command.
- Install the correct device driver or file system driver
in the specified file.
- Install all dynamic link libraries required by the
specified device driver.
PROCEDURES:
1. Edit the CONFIG.SYS to REMark out the
specific line in the error message,
EXAMPLE:
Line reads: IFS=X:\OS2\HPFS.IFS
Change to read: REM IFS=X:\OS2\HPFS.IFS
NOTE: X: drive where OS/2 resides
2. To REMark out the PROTECTONLY=YES statement,
Line reads: PROTECTONLY=YES
Change to read: REM PROTECTONLY=YES
3. Save and Close.
If the error message is with the display devices:
- Review the video statements in CONFIG.SYS, for VGA mode.
DEVINFO=SCR,VGA,X:\OS2\VIOTBL.DCP
SET VIDEO_DEVICES=VIO_VGA
SET VIO_VGA=DEVICE(BVHVGA)
DEVICE=X:\OS2\MDOS\VVGA.SYS
- If video is in SVGA or statement are incorrect, reset video
to VGA mode.
- Contact vendor for latest and correct video driver.
RESETTING VIDEO TO VGA MODE:
1. Turn the computer on. If the computer is already on, press
Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the system.
2. When a small white box appears in the upper left corner
of the screen press Alt+F1.
3. When the Recovery Choice screen appears, press V.
NOTE: The display adapter is restored back to VGA mode. If
the screen is not completely restored to VGA, redo the
steps above twice.
If you receive a second error message, SYS1200, system cannot
create the DOS environment; the error code is 0281.
1. Re-install the DOS support using Selective Install.
A. Open OS/2 System Icon.
B. Open OS/2 System Setup Icon.
C. Open Selective Install Icon.
D. Select OK and the next screen appears.
E. Select OS/2 DOS Support, a check mark appears in the box.
F. Select Install.
G. When the install completes, remove the diskette and
restart the system, pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del.
2. System files are corrupted either in OS/2 or DOS.
- For OS/2, follow these steps:
A. Insert Installation Diskette into drive A:
B. Turn computer on, or press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the
system.
C. When prompted remove Installation Diskette and
insert Diskette 1.
D. Press Enter.
E. When Welcome Screen appears, press F3 to display command prompt.
F. Reinsert the Installation Diskette.
G. At the prompt, type:
SYSINSTX X: and press Enter.
where X: is where OS/2 resides
H. After the command completes, remove the Diskette and
restart system, pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del.
- For DOS, follow these steps:
A. Start the system using a DOS bootable diskette.
B. Insert the Diskette and press Ctrl+Alt+Del.
C. At the A:\ prompt, type:
SYS C: and press Enter
D. After the command completes, remove the diskette and
restart the system, pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del.
