Common problems with 16/4/II ISA token-rin 8/16/93
ISA Systems and Tokenring adapters
There have been several problems with the Valuepoint and
other AT bus system not recognizing Token Ring adapters.
There are usually three reasons for this.
1. The customer has an IBM Tokenring 16/4 adapter II and
is trying to use the IBMTOK.OS2 driver. For this
adapter the customer must use the IBM16TR.OS2 driver.
2. The customer has an older Token Ring adapter and is
trying to use the IBM16TR.OS2 driver when they should
be using the IBMTOK.OS2.
3. The final problem is that the customer is using the
proper driver, but there is an I/O address conflict.
I suggest changing the adapter to the D8000 rom
address on both the IBM TR 16/4 and The IBM TR 16/4 II.
If the customer has an IBM TR 16/4 II there is an
additional parameter in the protocol.ini called I/O
address. If the adapter is set to D8000 the I/O address
should be set to 0xe6a0. The following are the dip
switch settings for the TR 16/4 II adapter:
switches 1 2 3 rom address I/O address
