  14.                ******  STANDARD SETUP FOR WP 5.1 AND 6.0  ******

  16.        1.   DOS SETTINGS
  17.  
  18.             WordPerfect uses up a lot of CPU time while it is running
  19.             in the foreground as well as running in the background.
  20.             To startup WP and speed up the performance, change the
  21.             settings in the Desktop object to the following:
  22.  
  23.                  DOS_BACKGROUND_EXECUTION = OFF
  24.                  DOS_FILES                = 25 (required for WP 6.0)
  25.                  DOS_HIGH                 = ON
  26.                  DOS_UMB                  = ON
  27.                  HW_ROM_TO_RAM            = ON
  28.                  IDLE_SECONDS             = 60
  29.                  IDLE_SENSITIVITY         = 100
  30.                  VIDEO_RETRACE_EMULATION  = OFF
  31.

  33.        2.   o  BLACK SCREEN
  34.             o  WORDPERFECT WILL NOT OPEN IN A VDM
  35.             o  SYS3176
  36.             o  HANGS WHILE SHIFTING FROM WORDPERFECT IN A

  39.             Change the Wordperfect settings by pressing the (SHIFT-F1)
  40.             key, or select (FILE) from the Menu Bar.  Proceed with the
  41.             following selections:

  44.                         DISPLAY
  45.                         TEXT SCREEN TYPE
  46.                         IBM (VGA AND COMPATIBLES)
  47.  
  48.             NOTE:  If your video card is either 8514 or XGA, try
  49.                    changing these DOS settings:

  51.                         VIDEO_8514A_XGA_IOTRAP    = OFF
  52.                         VIDEO_SWITCH_NOTIFICATION = ON
  53.  
  54.        3.   NO MOUSE OR ERRATIC MOUSE
  55.  
  56.             Change the Wordperfect settings by pressing the (SHIFT-F1)
  57.             key, or select (FILE) from the Menu Bar.  Proceed with the
  58.             following selections:

  88.        2.   Using a text editor, create a "WP.BAT" file IN THE WORDPERFECT
  89.             DIRECTORY, and include the following statements:
  90.  
  91.                         FAXDIR.EXE
  92.                         FAXB.COM
  93.                         WP.EXE
  94.  
  95.             The first two files load the fax drivers into the VDM
  96.             session.  The WP.EXE starts up Wordperfect.  Some
  97.             modems need to be on before the program is invoked,
  98.             otherwise the fax service will not recognize the modem.
  99.             This applies primarily to external modems; internal modems
  100.             are generally always on.

  102.        3.   In the PATH AND FILE NAME of the Notebook Settings enter
  103.             the drive, path and filename, i.e.:

  105.                         C:\WP60\WP.BAT
  106.  
  107.       4.    Set the Wordperfect SESSION setting to DOS FULL SCREEN.
  108.             Wordperfect 6.0 is only supported in a full screen.
  109.  
  110.       5.    Using a text editor change the following statements of
  111.             the OS/2 Config.sys on the root directory.
  112.  
  113.                         PRIORITY_DISK_IO = NO
  114.                         MAXWAIT          = 1
