  12. ABSTRACT          For a limited time only, eligible customers can exchange their
  13.            IBM Token-Ring Network 16/4 Busmaster Server Adapter/A (part number
  14.            74F4140, feature code 4041) for a new, higher-performance IBM
  15.            LANStreamer MC 32 Adapter (part number 92F8942, feature code 8942) at
  16.            no additional charge.
  17.                   To qualify, customers must have purchased both the IBM
  18.            Token-Ring Network 16/4 Busmaster Server Adapter/A and an IBM
  19.            Personal System/2 (R) XT486 Model 95 (0Mx model).  Both purchases
  20.            must have been made from IBM or an IBM Authorized Business Partner on
  21.            or after September 1, 1992, but no later than March 2, 1993.
  22.                   Exchange requests must be received by IBM on or before May 1,
  23.            1993.  Each request must be accompanied by a valid proof of purchase
  24.            (for example, a copy of the original invoice for the eligible IBM
  25.            Personal System/2 Model 95 and for the IBM Token-Ring Network 16/4
  26.            Busmaster Server Adapter/A).
  27.                   All customers are eligible to participate in this program.
  28.                   IBM reserves the right to modify or withdraw this program at
  29.            any time.

  34.                   This program fulfills the statement made in September 1992
  35.            regarding the Model 95.  The statement said that "IBM intends to
  36.            provide a new 32-bit busmaster token-ring adapter which will exploit
  37.            40MB/second data streaming....  IBM intends to provide a free
  38.            exchange program for customers who purchase the Busmaster Adapter/A
  39.            for a PS/2 (R) Model 95 0Mx between September and the announcement of
  40.            the new adapter."
  41.                   The IBM LANStreamer MC 32 Adapter, announced March 2, 1993, in
  42.            Product Announcement 193-056, fulfills the statement of direction for
  43.            the high-performance adapter.  This document, on the other hand,
  44.            provides the vehicle for the exchange program.
  45.                   Upon receipt of proof of purchase mailed by the customer, an
  46.            IBM LANStreamer MC 32 Adapter will be shipped.  Once the new adapter
  47.            is installed, the original IBM Busmaster Server Adapter must be
  48.            returned to IBM.  If it has not been returned within 35 days from the
  49.            date of shipment of the new adapter, the customer will be billed $500
  50.            per adapter. Up to two adapters per eligible Model 95 may be
  51.            exchanged.

  64.            and the new IBM LANStreamer MC 32 Adapter, call on your affected
  65.            customers to describe how they can take advantage of the program.
  66.                   Customers should understand that they must provide dated
  67.            proofs of purchase for these items as well as credit card
  68.            authorization, which will be used to bill them in the event the IBM
  69.            Token-Ring Network 16/4 Busmaster Server Adapter/A is not returned to
  70.            IBM.

  72. OVERVIEW   ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  73.            The IBM LANStreamer MC 32 Adapter, announced March 2, 1993 (see
  74.            Product Announcement 193-056), leads the industry in performance when
  75.            used in a server environment as part of a PS/2 (R) 95 system with
  76.            data streaming.  It should be considered in environments where
  77.            increased server performance (over the IBM Token-Ring 16/4 Busmaster
  78.            Server Adapter/A) is desired.  It supports both unshielded twisted
  79.            pair as well as the IBM Cabling System.
  80.                   The IBM LANStreamer MC 32 Adapter has a processing capacity of
  81.            over 30,000 frames per second and very low latency (under 50
  82.            microseconds).  The IBM LANStreamer MC 32 Adapter provides both data
  83.            and addressing support for 32 bits of information to be passed across
  84.            the Micro Channel (R).  This provides greater throughput as well as
  85.            addressing capabilities to support Model 95s that require addressing
  86.            above the 16MB range.
  87.                   To participate in this program, you must send the following to
  88.            IBM:
  89.            o   Your IBM or IBM Authorized Business Partner invoice for the IBM
  90.                Token-Ring Network 16/4 Busmaster Server Adapter/A (part number
  91.                74F4140, feature code 4041) and the IBM Personal System/2 XT486
  92.                Model 95 (9595-0MF, 0MT or 8595-0MF, 0MT).
  93.                       The date of purchase is the date on the invoice.  The
  94.                purchase date of both the IBM Token-Ring Network 16/4 Busmaster
  95.                Server Adapter/A and the Personal System/2 XT486 Model 95 must be
  96.                on or after September 1, 1992, but no later than March 2, 1993.
  97.                       Up to two adapters per Model 95 may be exchanged.
  98.            o   A credit card authorization, which will be used only if the IBM
  99.                Token-Ring Network 16/4 Busmaster Server Adapter/A is not
  100.                returned within 35 days from shipment of the IBM LANStreamer MC
  101.                32 Adapter.  (MasterCard, Visa, and American Express card numbers
  102.                may be used.)  If it is not returned by then, you will be charged
  103.                $500 for each Busmaster Server Adapter/A.
