AT&T PCMCIA keep in touch modem card 4/28/94

TITLE: Installing the AT&T Keep In Touch PCMCIA modem with OS/2.
DESCRIPTION OF SYMPTOMS
1. Cannot access modem with OS/2 but can with real DOS.
2. Applications cannot find Keep In Touch card.
3. Loosing data in with the Keep in Touch modem.
SUMMARY OF RESOLUTION
1. Installing the KIT software.
2. Editing the config.sys.
3. Creating an icon that initializes the modem.
DETAILS OF RESOLUTION
1. Save the CONFIG.SYS file as CONFIG.ATT.
2. Save the AUTOEXEC.BAT file as AUTOEXEC.ATT.
3. Install the AT&T software from the floppy drive.
4. Rename CONFIG.ATT to CONFIG.SYS.
5. Rename AUTOEXEC.ATT to AUTOEXEC.BAT.
6. At an OS/2 prompt type EPM C:\CONFIG.SYS.
7. All statements for the socket services must be remmed out.
8. PCMCIA,SYS and VPCMCIA.SYS must be remmed out.
9. All statements for PCMCIA client drivers must be remmed out.
10. Locate the statement "SET DEVICE = C:\OS2\COM.SYS".
11. If the modem will be com2 change to C:\OS2\COM.SYS ( 2,2F8,3).
12. If com1 change to C:\OS2\COM.SYS ( 1, 3F8, 4 ).
13. Save and go to desktop.
14. From the templates folder drag a copy of the program object
to the desktop.
15. In the path and file name filed enter C:\KIT\CONFIG.EXE.
16. In the parameters entry field enter COMx where x is the port
number, 1 or 2.
17. In the working directory entry field enter C:\KIT.
18. Select the session tab and select the DOS Window radio
button.
19. Open DOS settings and enter the following setting.
COM_DIRECT_ACCESS = ON
COM_SELECT = ALL
20. Select the General tab and enter KIT in the Name entry field.
21. Save and exit to the desktop.
22. Open the System folder and locate the startup folder.
23. Drag and drop the KIT icon into the startup folder.
24. Shutdown and reboot.
25. Make sure all applications are set for the correct COM port;
i.e., com1, com2, etc.
26. Make sure that DOS based communications applications have
the following settings.
COM_DIRECT_ACCESS = OFF
COM_SELECT = ALL
DOS_FILES = ON
DOS_HIGH = ON
DOS_UMB = ON
HW_ROM_TO_RAM = ON
HW_TIMER = ON
27. Install the phone line and activate.
