  3. AMI_R30A -- PUBLIC APPLICATIONS with LOTUS AMIPRO 3.0 for OS/2
  4.  
  5. DESCRIPTION OF SYMPTOMS:
  6.    The correct operation of Lotus Ami Pro and the Lotus License Management
  7.    Facility was the prime considerations in the development of this
  8.    procedure.
  9.  
  10. SUMMARY OF RESOLUTION:
  11.    The following is an example of installing LOTUS Ami Pro for OS/2
  12.    in a Domain for use as a Public Application for use by OS/2
  13.    Requester Workstations. Selected items, such as Aliases and drives,
  14.    can be customized for specific circumstances.
  15.  
  16.    The installation is performed from a Workstation on the Network.
  17.  
  18. DETAILS OF RESOLUTION:
  19.    INSTALLING THE PRODUCT
  20.  
  21.         LOTUS Ami Pro for OS/2 - NETWORK VERSION was installed
  22.         from a Workstation on the Network to the OS2AMI
  23.         subdirectory on the D: drive of the Server.
  24.  
  25.  
  26.         1. LOGON to the SERVER with an ADMINISTRATOR ID
  27.  
  28.             A. In an OS/2 Window or Full Screen session from a
  29.                Workstation on the network, type the following and
  30.                press ENTER:
  31.  
  32.                   LOGON adminid /P:password
  33.  
  34.                where adminid is an Administrator ID and password
  35.                is the proper password for the ID.
  36.  
  37.  
  38.         2. OBTAIN ACCESS to the D: DRIVE on the SERVER
  39.  
  40.             A. In an OS/2 Window or Full Screen session type the
  41.                following and press ENTER to connect to the D
  42.                Drive on the Server:
  43.  
  44.                   NET USE P: \\servername\D$
  45.  
  46.                where servername is the Server Name of the Server
  47.                that Ami Pro will be installed on.
  48.  
  49.             B. To switch to the redirected P Drive, type the following
  50.                and press ENTER:

  54.             C. Create the directory where the product will be installed
  55.                by typing the following and pressing ENTER:
  56.  
  57.                   MD OS2AMI
  58.  
  59.             D. Switch to the C drive by typing C: and pressing ENTER.
  60.  
  61.             E. Disconnect from the redirected drive by typing the
  62.                following and pressing ENTER:

  64.                   NET USE P: /D
  65.  
  66.  
  67.         3. CREATE the ALIAS
  68.  
  69.             A. In an OS/2 Full Screen session, type NET and depress ENTER.
  70.             B. At the MAIN MENU, select Definitions from the top menu and
  71.                ALIASES from the pull down and FILES from the pop up.
  72.             C. Select NEW on the screen, select ACTIONS from the top menu
  73.                and CREATE from the pull down.
  74.             D. Fill in the panel:
  75.  
  76.                 ALIAS                   AMIOS2
  77.                 DESCRIPTION             Describe the Alias as desired
  78.                 SERVER NAME             Depress F4 and select the Server
  79.                                         name that was used in Step 2A
  80.                 SERVER PATH             D:\OS2AMI
  81.                 SHARED                  AT SERVER STARTUP is recommended
  82.                                         but AS REQUIRED BY USER is O.K.

  84.             E. Exit the Full Screen Interface (REQ).

  87.         4. OBTAIN a DRIVE to the ALIAS
  88.  
  89.             A. In an OS/2 Window or Full Screen session type the
  90.                following and press ENTER:

  92.                   NET USE P: AMIOS2
  93.

  95.         5. INSTALLING the PRODUCT
  96.  
  97.             A. Insert Disk 1(Install) of AMI PRO in the Drive A.
  98.             B. In OS/2 Window or Full Screen session type the following
  99.                and press ENTER:
  100.  
  101.                   A:INSTALL
  102.  
  103.             C. Click on CONTINUE on the WELCOME TO INSTALL screen.
  104.             D. Type the Company Name and press ENTER.
  105.             E. Type the Name and press ENTER.
  106.             F. In the MAIN MENU, select INSTALL ON SERVER icon.
  107.             G. In the SPECIFY TYPE OF INSTALLATION, COMPLETE INSTALLATION
  108.                was chosen for this installation.
  109.             H: Specify the Program Directory as P:\AMIPRO and press ENTER.
  110.             I. Adjust NUMBER OF LICENSES to those purchased and ensure
  111.                the LOTSHARE DIRECTORY DRIVE is P and click on OK.
  112.             J. Follow the directions in the panels that follow for
  113.                the remainder of the installation.
  114.             K. Exit the installation when complete.

  117.         6. CREATE INITIAL ACCESS CONTROL PROFILE
  118.  
  119.             A. In an OS/2 Full Screen session, type NET and press
  120.                ENTER to start the Full Screen Interface (FSI).
  121.             B. From the MAIN PANEL, select DEFINITIONS from the top menu,
  122.                ALIASES fro the pull down, and FILES from the pop up.
  123.             C. From the MANAGE ALIAS FILES menu, select AMIOS2.
  124.             D. Select ACCESS PROFILES from the top menu and CREATE
  125.                from the pull down.
  126.             E. Enter XR in the PERMISSIONS for USERS and press ENTER.
  127.             F. From the  MANAGE ALIAS FILES menu, select AMIOS2.
  128.             G. Select ACCESS PROFILES for the top menu, APPLY from the
  129.                pull down and press ENTER.
  130.             H. ESC to the MAIN PANEL.

  133.         7. SETTING ACCESS CONTROL for the LICENSE DIRECTORIES
  134.  
  135.             A. From the MAIN PANEL, select DEFINITIONS from the top
  136.                menu and ACCESS CONTROL from the pull down.
  137.             B. Select SERVERS from the top panel and DISPLAY PROFILES
  138.                by SERVER.
  139.             C. Select the same Server name that was used in step 2A.
  140.             D. Locate D:\OS2AMI\LOTSHARE and select.
  141.             E. Select ACTIONS from top menu and UPDATE from pull down.
  142.             F. Specify XRWCDAP in PERMISSIONS and press ENTER.
  143.             G. Locate D:\OS2AMI\LOTSHARE and select.
  144.             H. Select ACTIONS from top menu and APPLY from pull down
  145.                and press ENTER.
  146.             I. ESC to the MAIN PANEL.
  147.  
  148.            NOTE: Access Control Profiles may need to be created for those
  149.                  directories that will contain the Data/Document files.

  152.         8. DEFINING AMIPRO INSTALL as a PUBLIC APPLICATION
  153.  
  154.             A. From the MAIN PANEL panel, select DEFINITIONS from the top
  155.                menu and APPLICATIONS from the pull down.
  156.             B. Select PUBLIC OS/2 APPLICATIONS.
  157.             C. Select NEW, ACTION from the top menu and CREATE from the
  158.                pull down.
  159.             D. At the CREATE OS/2 APPLICATIONS DETAILS panel, fill in
  160.                the panel:

  190.                pull down.
  191.             C. Add the application to the users needed and press ENTER.

  197.             A. From the MAIN PANEL panel, select DEFINITIONS from the top
  198.                menu and APPLICATIONS from the pull down.
  199.             B. Select PUBLIC OS/2 APPLICATIONS.
  200.             C. Select NEW, ACTION from the top menu and CREATE from the
  201.                pull down.
  202.             D. At the CREATE OS/2 APPLICATIONS DETAILS panel, fill in

  230.             A. From the MANAGE OS/2 APPLICATIONS panel, select APPAMI.
  231.             B. Select STARTER from the top menu and select ADD from the
  232.                pull down.
  233.             C. Add the application to the users needed and press ENTER.
  234.             D. ESC to MAIN PANEL.
  235.             E. Exit the FSI and LOGOFF the Administrator ID.

  241.    STEPS AT EACH WORKSTATION
  242.

  244.     The following must be executed at each user's workstation to gain
  245.     access to Lotus AMIPRO and the Lotus License Management
  246.     Facility.

  249.         1. LOGON TO THE DOMAIN CONTROLLER
  250.  
  251.             A. In an OS/2 Window or Full Screen session type the following
  252.                and press ENTER on a Workstation in the Network:
  253.  
  254.                     LOGON userid  /P:password
  255.  
  256.                where userid is the actual userid and password is
  257.                the correct password for the userid entered.

  260.         2. INSTALLING THE APPLICATION ON THE WORKSTATION
  261.  
  262.             A. Using a mouse, double click on the Public Applications
  263.                icon on the Desktop.
  264.             B. Double click on the AMIPRO INSTALL icon.
  265.             C. Choose the CONTINUE on WELCOME TO INSTALL panel.
  266.             D. Type the Name and press ENTER.
  267.             E. Specify the AMI PRO Program Directory and press ENTER.
  268.             F. Verify the information in the PATHS pop up and press
  269.                ENTER.  AMI PRO will now install the Workstation Node.
  270.             G. Exit the Install program.

  275.         The AMIPRO icon can now be double clicked in the PUBLIC
  276.         APPLICATIONS folder to use the features of AMI PRO.
