  8. READ ENTIRE FAX AND USE THE SOLUTION FOR YOUR SYMPTON

  14. SYMPTONS:
  15.  
  16. 1) If you forgot your OS/2 Lockup password
  17.  
  18. 2) Your password is not being recognized
  19.  
  20. 3) Unable to exit from lockup or you are in loop
  21.  
  22.  
  23.  
  24. SOLUTION:
  25.  
  26. 1)  Do a shutdown from the desktop menu, or POWER OFF (if you
  27.     are unable to do a proper shutdown), or press and hold down,
  28.     CTRL + ALT, and press DEL with the Installation Diskette in
  29.     the bootable drive.
  30.  
  31. 2)  Put diskette #1 in drive when prompted and press <enter>.
  32.  
  33. 3)  When the WELCOME screen appears, press ESC to cancel.
  34.  
  35. 4)  At this point you should be at a A:  Prompt
  36.  
  37. 5)  At A:  command prompt type "X:"  <enter>
  38.           where X:  is where OS/2 resides, C:, D:, etc)
  39.  
  40. 6)  Type, "CD \OS2" <enter>.
  41.  
  42. 7)  Type "ATTRIB OS2.INI -R" <enter>.
  43.  
  44. 8)  Type "MAKEINI OS2.INI LOCK.RC" <enter>.
  45.  
  46. 9)  Type "ATTRIB OS2.INI +R" <enter>.
  47.  
  48. 10) WHEN you see MAKEINI SUCCESSFUL, take diskette out of the
  49.     drive and reboot the machine.
  50.  
  51. You should now be able to reset the password.  If you have any
  52. problems with this procedure contact 1-800-992-4777.

  58. SYMPTONS:
  59.  
  60. 1) If your lockup automatically locks up and you don't want it
  61.    to automatically lockup
  62.  
  63. 2) If you want to change or adjust settings for lockup
  64.  
  65.

  67. SOLUTION:
  68.  
  69. 1) Go to desktop and click on blank space of desktop with right
  70.    mouse button and desktop pop-up menu will display
  71.  
  72. 2) Click on the arrow in open --> with left mouse button and it
  73.    will display the settings
  74.  
  75. 3) Click on LOCKUP tab with left mouse button and it will display
  76.    the settings for lockup
  77.  
  78. 4) **If you do NOT want automatic lockup enabled, click with left
  79.      mouse button, have bullet in NO AUTOMATIC LOCKUP
  80.  
  81.    **If you want to change or enable another settings, click
  82.      with left mouse button, and enable the one you want.
  83.  
  84.    **If you want to change the timeout, click on the right side
  85.      arrow and adjust the minutes to your choice.

  87. 5) Double click on the little icon in the upper left hand corner
  88.    to close the notebook.
