WarpMail program for OS/2
(a WarpWare product)
─────────────────────────┘
WARNING
This is postcardware. It is not guaranteed to do anything, or
not to do anything. Use it at your own risk. See disclaimer above.
Version: 0.4beta
Dated : 25 November 1997
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
What it is
───────────┘
Do you know Unix? If so, you know "mail" already and you can step on to
next paragraph.
If not read on :-)
Unix has a little mailtool called simply "mail".
"mail" sends email via smtp to a server, it can get its input from stdin or
out of an editor. Its very, very nice and fast if you simply want to send
an email quick'n'fast out of a commandline or out of a batch.
And exactly that is "warpmail for OS/2".
What it does
────────────┘
It sends an email via smtp.
Input can come from
- stdin
- editor
- textfile
Installation
────────────┘
Software requirements:
- a 32Bit OS/2 system, that means OS/2 2.0 or higher
- installed TCP/IP, network or ppp/slip
- a smtp server somewhere to send a mail to
Just copy the files in a directory of your choice and edit the warpmail.cfg
for your needs. That means editing your name, email, hostname and smtpserver.
It's very easy and I'm sure you're able to do that :-)
I very suggest to put warpmail.exe in some directory which is in your path
to have access to it from everywhere. If you do so, put your warpmail.cfg
in your /etc directory (usually /mptn/etc on your bootdrive)!
And if you don't want to type the long word "warpmail" everytime, just rename
it to "mail", it's more unix like then ;-)))
warpmail.exe doesn't need any dll or so, it's a standalone program and just
needs its config warpmail.cfg (don't rename that, too!) in it's directory
or (prefer that) in the /etc directory.
Usage
──────┘
WarpMail uses a config file named "warpmail.cfg". Look at it and set it up.
warpmail.cfg has to be in mail'd directory or in the /etc (usually /mptn/etc).
warpmail <email address to send to> [option]
options:
-f <file> : get the mail out of textfile <file>
-i : get input from stdin
If no parameter is given, warpmail will ask after email address and subject.
If no option is given, warpmail will start the editor as specified in
warpmail.cfg.
If input does not come from file or stdin, warpmail will ask after a subject.
If no subject is given, warpmail will generate one itself out of your
email address and the actual date and time.
After writing a mail with an editor, warpmail allows you to change the
subject, the receiver or edit the mail again. Finally you can send it
(just hit return to do so) or forget it (warpmail will end).
CAUTION! You write *only the mail's text* in editor, file or stdin!
There's no need to write the header (from:, to: etc) yourself!
Mail do this for you.
REMARK: all input queries have a time limit. If you don't input something
in 60 seconds mail will end the query and itself.

postcard!
Send it to:

Compiled
────────┘
with VirtualPascal 1.10. A damn good pascal compiler... I just love it!
The exe-file is compressed with LxLite 1.18 to save space and enhance the
startup time. If you don't know LxLite... try it! It's fantastic!
