  1. This file contains instructions on how to install these fixes for 
  2. WebExplorer and a list of the APARs that have been fixed.
  3.  
  4. The executable provided is a self-extracting zip file.  Run the executable, 
  5. specifying the directory where you want the files to be unpacked to.  
  6. For example:
  7.    WEBXV11E.EXE D:\UNZIP
  8. would unpack the WEBXV11D.EXE packed file to D:\UNZIP directory.

  10. After unpacking, you should have the following files:

  12. - explore.dsc
  13. - explore.ex_
  14. - explore.icf
  15. - explore.lst
  16. - explore.pkg
  17. - explore.rsp
  18. - install.exe
  19. - install.in_

  21. - readme.1st

  24. This version is a total replacement of WebExplorer code.  To install:
  25. 1- Make backup copies of the following existing files (note:  depending
  26.    on which version of WebExplorer that you are running, some of the
  27.    files may not exist):

  29.     /bin/explore.exe
  30.     /bin/explore.ico
  31.     /bin/viewstrt.exe
  32.     /dll/webexurl.dll
  33.     /dll/webexwin.dll
  34.     /help/explore.hlp
  35.     /help/webexurl.hlp
  36.     /help/webng.htm

  38. 2- Change to the directory where the unpacked the self extracting zip
  39.    file.
  40.  
  41. 3- Type
  42.      install
  43.    and press Enter.
  44.  
  45. 4- Follow the on-screen installation instructions.

  47.    NOTE:  Please note that the window in which all the default target
  48.    directories are listed is scrollable. If you do not want to take the
  49.    default directories, you will need to scroll the window down to reach
  50.    the entries at the bottom of the list.

  55. previous version since the fixes are cumulative.

  58. WebExplorer V1.1e (07/11/96):

  61. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:

  63. PJ22350 - WebExplorer does not support proxy authentication from Microsoft Servers.
  64. IC13741 - WebExplorer does not work correctly when going to secure documents on different
  65.           servers when using a proxy server.
  66. IC13935 - Browser doesn't support a connection via proxy that requires userid and password
  67.           Authentication (ie. Netscape).

  73. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:

  75. IC13312 - WebExplorer does not properly display URL when it contains         
  76.           characters x'20' and below in value.                               
  77. IC13788 - WebExplorer does not correctly handle images which are     
  78.           redirected from a web server to another.                           
  79. IC12706 - Printed tables are being squished to the left.
  80. IC13317 - SYS3175 in PMGPI.DLL when trying to print large files.           
  81. IC13471 - WebExplorer prints garbage when printing a 4 column        
  82.           list box to a postscript driver.                                 
  83. IC13355 - Error printing web pages with tables using WebExplorer        
  84. IC13045 - WebExplorer will not print text in <TABLE> cells properly,
  85.           using <TABLE WIDTH="XXX"> in HTML 3.0.
  86. IC13237 - WebExplorer displays GIF images incorrectly when operating in 
  87.           VGA mode.

  98. IC13501 - Forward fit Japanese fixes from 1.02d level

  104. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:

  106. - IC12129 : When loading graphical pages with WebExplorer 1.03,
  107.             swapfile grows to astronomical proportions (40Megs or
  108.             more)
  109. - IC12273 : When printing from the WebExplorer V 1.03 to certain
  110.             PostScript printers, some of the document will not
  111.             print
  112. - IC12515 : WebExplorer receives a SYS3175 when accessing the HTML
  113.             code with a <EM> tag in the file
  114. - IC12691 : WebExplorer does not properly load documents with a
  115.             TEXTAREA field
  116. - IC12700 : WebExplorer does not display text on a specific page
  117. - IC12706 : WebExplorer will not format tables for printing correctly
  118. - IC13080 : WebExplorer is not formatting tables with inline
  119.             graphics properly
  120. - IC13084 : WebExplorer abends with SYS3175 when pressing TAB in a
  121.             FORMTEXT field
  122. - PJ19930 : WebExplorer fails with SYS3175 when caching a document
  123.             with a <SELECT></SELECT> pair without any <OPTION> tags
  124. - PJ21391 : WebExplorer generates a SYS3175 in WEBEXWIN.DLL when
  125.             downloading a MIME type with a long URL name to the
  126.             harddisk
  127. - PJ21462 : WebExplorer generates a SYS3184 when ROWSPAN uses a
  128.             value of 0
  129. - PJ21464 : WebExplorer doesn't route correctly when using a socks
  130.             server
  131. - PJ21616 : When clicking on an image map in an HTML document to
  132.             reach a new page or server connection, WebExplorer
  133.             does not properly display the new URL for the new
  134.             connection.
  135. - PJ21622 : WebExplorer V1.03 does not work with Internet Expo
  136. - PJ21914 : Back arrow does not take WebEx V1.03 to the previous page
  137. - PJ21942 : Proxy definition added to proxies Help panel
  138. - PJ22211 : WebExplorer V1.03 produces "String overflow" error when
  139.             trying to reload a form
  140. - PJ21468 : WebExplorer V1.03 ends with a SYS3175 access violation
  141.             in WEBEXWIN.DLL
  142. - PJ22468 : WebExplorer crashes when using "Save As..." to save a
  143.             page
  144. - PJ22506 : WebExplorer ALT Attribute in HTML file is not displayed
  145.             correctly when load graphics is switched off.

  147. - IC11796 : WebExplorer 1.03 gives SYS3175 with long quicklist entry
  148. - IC11797 : WebExplorer generates access violation when loading an
  149.             HTML page that is larger than 8.9K
  150. - PJ20482 : WebExplorer does not display Help for login dialog
  151. - PJ20483 : WebExplorer does not properly allow scrolling in some
  152.             previously viewed documents
  153. - PJ20484 : WebExplorer does not properly display a page after
  154.             loading it. The page is the default grey background.
  155. - PJ20633 : WebExplorer removes a leading space from any query
  156.             submitted by a text input field
  157. - PJ20899 : WebExplorer gives error "Server is busy or not responding" ERRO
  158.             when posting data greater than 4KB
  159. - PJ21284 : WebExplorer does not display all the default text in a
  160.             <TEXTAREA> field
  161.  
  162. Besides the above APARs, several other problems in previous versions
  163. of WebExplorer have also been corrected.
